Kendra | 2 comments My name is Kendra, I'm a student at EWU and I'm majoring in psychology. I enjoy a wide variety of books, but have been reading more romance/dystopian/erotic novels lately. I love book suggestions and rarely read a bad book (well at least in my opinion). (:

Megan (mrensel) Hi everyone! My name is Megan and I'm a student at Michigan State and I'm pre-med majoring in Human Biology and Criminal Justice. I read almost everything but romance and my favorites lie in the genre of science fiction/fantasy and mystery. Nice to meet you all!

message 755: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (fiona_hawkins) Hey y'all! I'm Fiona and I've been a member for a little while now but I don't think I've ever introduced myself. I'm in my second year at the University of Central Missouri studying English and Education right now, but I'm thinking of dropping the education part. I read almost anything. I'm partial to young adult lit, but I am willing to branch out to other books. Nice to meet you all.

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) Hey everyone! I'm Sandee. I'm a new member. I've been a nursing student but I had to stop because I had to work. Anyhow I love reading. Right now I am into YA or NA books whether paranormal or contemporary it doesn't really matter. I love writing too. :)

Hope I could meet more people my age here! See yah! :)

message 757: by Daria (new)

Daria Hi everyone. So thrilled to have found this wonderful group! I'm Daria, 24, resident of Vancouver (British Columbia), recent university graduate and unexpected valedictorian, Sociology major, and a bookworm. I always liked reading, but during my last semester in school I re-discovered it with a new passion. I am now a regular at a local library, and I try to practice creative writing alongside reading (alas, it is not going as well as I would like it to).

I have zero idea what I am doing with my life, but somehow books make me feel like it's ok. I guess I'm here because I'd love to get some good book recommendations and (hopefully) meet like-minded people.

P.S. Merry Christmas, everyone!

message 758: by Emily (new)

Emily Hi! I'm Emily, resident of New York (currently at school in Long Island). I just turned 19 and I'm in my first year of college as an anthropolog/ geology double major.
I'm currently reading Prodigy by Marie Lu and Kingdom of the Wicked by Derek Landy, and I especially love anything dystopian. I can't wait to get to know you guys!

message 759: by Janita (new)

Janita | 2 comments Hi, my name is Janita. I'm from Toronto and I'm currently studying Anthropology and History as a double major. I love love love books (pff who doesn't?) and I am, as of yesterday, rereading Legend by Marie Lu. Feel free to add me as a friend!

Yay! Anthropology buddies!

message 761: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1 comments Hi I'm Katie. I realize that I have been following this group for a while and never introduced myself. I am a 23 yr old recent grad who works to much. I tend to read dystopian and ya when I have the time though really I am interested in everything. Always looking for new recommendations!

message 762: by Scott (new)

Scott Spinelli Hey guys/gals, I'm Scott. I too have been following the group for a bit now and haven't introduced myself. So, here we go... I'm a 26 year old fellow, went to Syracuse and my debut novel came out this past November.

I tend to read books that are not too far off from things that could happen to me. Jonathan Tropper's family novels, Chad Kultgen, etc. But I've also started reading some classics again, the Great Gatsby, Franny and Zooey, etc.

As are the rest, always looking for recommendations.

message 763: by Katie (new)

Katie | 3 comments Hi I'm Katie. I'm 18 in my first year of college. My major is computer science. I live in California. I love to read and can read for hours at a time. Reading is not my only hobby though; I love to run, bike, and hike. I like being outdoors. Besides books and exercising I think my other big obsession is Disney.
As far as books go I feel like i like books all over the board, but I like to say my favorite category is science fiction. Honestly though I love books about almost everything. I feel like I can't be super picking when I only get books from the library and read as much as I do.

message 764: by Brendan (BJ) (new)

Brendan (BJ) (heresjohnny) | 61 comments Hey everyone! I'm BJ, and I suppose i'm a lurker... Erm, I mean a 20 year old from Australia in my 4th (final) year of my degree about to start an exchange program at Ithaca College, NY... :)

message 765: by Kate (new)

Kate Hello everyone! I'm Kate. I'm 20 and majoring in engineering so I have absolutely no time to read ever. Not that I let that stop me. My all-time favorite author is Patrick Ness and I don't really have a favorite genre...I just prefer anything with really creative concepts/plot. In my free time, I work on my zombie apocalypse survival plan.

message 766: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Hello all. I am new to Goodreads, however I think this will be very helpful for me. I've been reading 3-6 books a week lately, mostly YA fiction, however I'm stumped as to good new books to read. Mainly I had been trying to go based on the summaries, but that hasn't been helpful. I just finished Divergent and Insurgent and just started The Demon King. I read on my Nook although I have many bookcase full of books I read on. I tend to find books I like and just keep re-reading them, but I have done it so much I need new ones. That is why I'm joining this group. Cheers!

message 767: by Jordin (new)

Jordin I am also new to the group, though it would be interesting to get some other book recommendations. I try to read as much as I can with going to school to be an elem teacher.

Deborah, if you liked Divergent, have you tried to read The Maze Runner series? They are similar to Divergent and The Hunger Games, I recently read them and fell in love.

message 769: by Karen (new)

Karen Hi everyone, I'm Karen a recent graduate from UC Irvine. I graduated with a bachelor in sociology with a minor in International Studies. I'm currently researching graduate programs. Right now, I'm in the middle of The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey, which is filled with second wave feminism political thought. Recently I have become interested in Dystopian literature. This is thanks to Octavia Butler. In recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Mo Singer113 | 1 comments Hey everyone,
My name is Meg and I'm a senior at Mcdaniel college. I am a psychology major with an art history minor. I am very interested in all types of literature but I really like historical fiction.

message 772: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) Hi everyone :)

My name is Heather and I just joined the group. I was happy to see a group for post secondary students, it's nice to talk to people in similar situations as yourself.

So a bit about me? Hmmm...

Well seeing as the group is titled College Students! I think that would a good place to start. So again my name is Heather (I'm sure everyone has already figured that one out :p), I'm 20, soon to be 21, and in my third year of university. As most of you well know school is like a full time job if not more because unlike a job, the work comes home with you. So needless to say I don't have much of a live outside of school at the moment. I'm in the Forensic Science program at my school, and I love it. It's one of the smallest if not the smallest program at the school which is probably my favourite part about it. My professors in the program are absolutely great! I also love the program because I am in love with science. I have been ever since I first learnt what it was. This program allows me to take courses in almost all areas of science, so I have a good background.

As much as I love my program, I don't think that I will choose a career directly connected to it. But I'm not sure. I'm a very indecisive person and I have so many ideas about what I want to do after school that I can't make up my mind.

At this point some the top ones i am considering include; cancer/disease research, genetic counselling, CSIS, pathologist, surgeon, paramedic... I'm sure I could go one but I'm trying to keep it short here lol

However, working for NASA is and has always been my dream job. I have always been fascinated with the study of the universe. But I am a realistic person, so I'm not banking on anything there.

Now outside of school.

I am 100% a country girl and always will be. I grew up on the river and absolutely love being outdoors. So the majority of my free time when I'm not in school is spent at camp doing things like canoeing, boating, swimming, hiking, sports etc.

As far as hobbies go my favourite one for relaxing is reading (surprising I know!). I can't think of something I'd rather do when I have a moment to just relax.

I also enjoy art and I'm pretty good at it as well, thanks to my grandmother. I haven't really done any since high school so I'm hoping it isn't something you lose.

Well I think that I've definitely talked your guys' ears off enough (I'm sorry). If there is anything else you'd like to know just ask, I don't bite :)

Happy reading,

Heather

Alyssa | Swept Away By Books (alybaby) Hello! My name is Alyssa and I am a university student studying communications with a minor in publishing. I live in the Greater Vancouver area of BC.
I love to read all YA genres and general fiction but on my blog (which is new and just starting out) i review YA. My biggest passion has always been and always will be reading. I tried not reading during my last semester because i was too busy and lasted 3 days before i went crazy and picked up a book. I work in a local bookstore in my city which helps my bank account out with the discount i get and i am beyond interested in talking to some people on here!
My blog is http://sweptawaybybooks.blogspot.ca/
Feel free to check it out and add me as a friend here of GR! :)

message 774: by Angelique (new)

Angelique (angelique682) Hi, My name is Angelique. New member.
I have been a avid enjoyer of Top Ten Tuesdays for about a month now, and just now managed to read about the Group on the blog.
I read anything from contemporary romance, YA, Paranormal to suspense.
Just not a big fan of biographies and non fiction as I get enough of that in my studies.
I am a part time law student and a full time Collections paralegal at a small coastal law firm.
I am 23 years old and have met the man of my dreams and am getting married in a year or so.
You can add me as a friend here or just check out my page and or blog.
:)

Katie | 1 comments Hi everyone!
My name is Katie. I'm actually not in college yet...I've got a few months to go. I figured ya'll wouldn't mind if I joined now...since the main thing on my mind is college. :) If it's not ok, just let me know!
I absolutely love reading, writing and history...which generally leads to my writing and reading historical novels!
I'm currently reading "The Two Towers" by J.R.R. Tolkien.

message 777: by J. (new)

J. (saintsimon) Hello, I go by JJ. I'm a born-again bookworm. I used to love reading and writing when I was younger, but when I reached the era of required reading, that interest kind of petered out. Now, I'm in (hopefully) my final semester of college, and that love for reading has been rekindled by The Hunger Games, no less.

I joined Goodreads to connect with some bookish friends who are interested in a wide range of books from young adult to classics to non-fiction. I look forward to getting to know some of you!

I am actually reading The Book Thief now. Have you started it yet? I liked it much more at page five then I did at page 10. Lol.

message 780: by Missy (new)

Missy Johnson | 4 comments Hi guys,

My name is Missy. I'm studying nursing at university part time, and I also write in my spare time. My first novel was released recently So Many Reasons Why

I'm studying via distance due to the fact that I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere (population 200).

I love reading, particularly YA, NA and anything with a bit of crime and romance. Don't mind the odd bit of paranormal either. I generally read a book or two a week, mostly because there is nothing else to do out here!

Missy :)

message 781: by Kat (new)

Kat (nyrhtakk) Hi there! My name's Kathryn and I'm a broke college student from Texas. Despite the fact that finals week is approaching faster than I can handle I'm currently on a reading binge, and actually managing to get some crossed off my to read list!

I'm working on moving away from the typical "young adult" kind of stuff that I read in high school. I've started enjoying nonfiction a lot more, but I've always been a fiction girl. I read things from most genres, and currently my favorite books are those that inspire me.

I'm currently a computational mathematics major with a religion minor, but any of those are subject to change at any time for me :p I'm looking forward to using this group to procrastinate all the studying that is piling up on me!!

message 782: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie12292) | 5 comments Hey everyone! My name is Stephanie and I just joined. I am 20 and in my 3rd year of university studying early childhood education. I go to school in Saskatchewan , Canada, but I am from Maryland and I'll be going back home soon for the summer. I don't get much reading done during the school year, but I plan to read more in the summer. Currently, I am reading The Happiness Project. I like young adult, comedy, psychology, and memoir books mostly, but I am open to a lot.
I look forward to meeting other people on here and add me if you want to talk :)

message 784: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Hey all!

My name is Samantha and like you, I am a college student. I live in Michigan and am 25 years old. I'm a Registered Respiratory Therapist in my 3rd semester of grad school (online via Northeastern University in Boston, MA). In my spare time I practice yoga and cook.

The school thing has been kicking my butt big time for the past year so I haven't had much time to read. Thankfully I am getting back into it!

I don't remember how I found out about this site but I LOVE it! I have always wanted to join book clubs but with full time work, full time school, and professional commitments there is no time for book clubs. I mostly read fiction, some non-fiction... romance on occasion. I just finished Hopeless and before that Still Alice.

I look forward to meeting new people and having some great discussions! Add me/message me if you'd like!

message 785: by Jacob (new)

Jacob Lammers Hey guys, my name is Jacob. I am a 24 year old male. I graduated 2 years ago with a bachelors of science in nursing and a Spanish minor. I currently live in South Dakota as a nurse at a 300 bed hospital in a step down from ICU unit mostly dealing with pulmonary issues.
I use to love to read as a child and when I went to college and had to read textbooks it made me despise reading, however now that I have not had to read textbooks for awhile I am on a huge reading kick and thought that this group would continue to encourage me to read! I hope to get to know some of you, it should be a fun group!!

message 786: by Mickey (new)

Mickey Hi my name is Mickey. I'm 25 and recently graduated from Western Michigan with a Master's in playwriting. Looking for full-time work and learning how to survive in the "real world." One of the things I miss most about school is being able to talk about books with like-minded people. That's why I wanted to join this group. I don't really have a favorite genre anymore, although I used to be a really big fan of YA. I read a little bit of everything and my goal this year is to read more nonfiction and poetry because they are genres I am unfamiliar with. I'm also woefully under-read for an English major and have several classics that I need to catch up on. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I also hope to participate in some if the monthly book reads.

message 787: by Hilary (new)

Hilary Hey all, my name is Hilary. I'm 25, and recently graduated with a degree in Human Services. I somehow landed my dream job working at an assisted living residence with adults with developmental disabilities. Love it!

At my old job, we would all read the same books, and talk about them the whole way through. I just miss that so much. It isn't the same reading books on my own.

Happy reading!

message 788: by Heather Anne (new)

Heather Anne (heatherrranne) Hi everyone! My name is Heather and I join this group a few weeks ago, so I thought it was about time I introduced myself. :) I am 21 (22 in one week!) and a full time student majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in English. I live in North Carolina, born and raised. I currently work as a nanny several times a week, I tutor once to twice a week, and I am also a jewelry consultant. All of that on top of a full time class schedule, I stay pretty busy and sleep very little, but I love life nonetheless. Reading and writing are my two passions though. I would love to go back and get my degree in english or creative writing once my education degree is complete. I am married...going on 2 years in June and 6 six years of being together in October. He's the love of my life. :)
I LOVE to travel. Italy, Greece, Turkey, Hawaii, Canada, Honduras, and Mexico is where I have been so far (aside from other states in the US). I'll be traveling to France, England, Wales, and Italy (again) next summer. Oh, and I love meeting new people!

message 789: by Amber (new)

Amber Hey everyone! I am Amber. I am a student at Texas Tech. I have one year left of school and plan to go to physical therapy school after graduation. I love to read, like everyone else here! I mainly read YA and Romance but I am trying to branch out so if y'all know of any good books to introduce me into new genres let me know :)

message 790: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin Biddle | 4 comments Hey! So I'm Caitlin, 22 years old and live in Buffalo, NY. I graduated from UB last year with a BS in Accounting and BA in psychology. I'm finishing my Masters in Psych this summer and will be going into UB's PHD program for community health and health behavior in the fall.

I love to cook, read, travel and play sports (especially tennis, softball, basketball and frolf). I'll read just about anything, I like to get a good mix. I read a lot of academic journals, but love to throw in fiction, from classic literature to crime novels like Patterson. I'm excited to see what this group has to offer!

message 791: by Dera (new)

Dera Luce Well this is great; I'm glad I found this group! Can't wait to get to know you all :)Hi, my name's Dera. I'm 18, and I go to college in St. Louis. I'm double majoring in linguistics and computer science, and minoring in writing.

I'll read almost anything, but I particularly like speculative fiction and YA fiction. I like to write in these genres as well. I love John Green, but haven't read any of his books. Yes, that is possible. I'm trying to read them this summer.I'm also excited for the Ender's Game movie.

I welcome friend requests. This is my first time visiting the Groups section of Goodreads, so I'm new to all of this.

message 792: by Anthony (new)

Anthony | 3 comments Hi everyone! I am Anthony, and I am sophomore at East Carolina University majoring in accounting. I love reading all genres, but my favorite is short stories, YA, and mystery.

message 793: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi :) My name's Stephanie. I'm 19, from Louisiana and a sophomore at ULM majoring in medical laboratory science. My family, friends, boyfriend, music, science, and books are all things I absolutely love. Currently all of my focus is on reading House of Leaves (which kind of takes every bit of focus and concentration to read doesn't it?) but I'm always looking for new reads and new people to discuss them with!

message 794: by Krysta (new)

Krysta (krystafig) Hi everyone!

My name is Krysta, I'm 22, married, and a transplant from California to Oklahoma.
I used to be a graphic designer, but I am now going to school for Sign Language Interpreting and I work in a casino as a security dispatcher.
I love books...especially those of the paranormal sort.
My husband got me a Kindle for Christmas, and I was hesitant at first, but I love it! It fits so nicely in my purse and it's much lighter and less bulky than a paper book. I'll never give up my tangible books, but the ebooks aren't so bad!

Reading recommendations are welcome!

message 795: by Matt (new)

Matt Riedl | 1 comments Hey everyone!

This is my first Goodreads group I've joined, so I figured I would just be brief here. My name's Matt and I'm a 20-year-old college student in Kansas. I'm a writer for our local newspaper and love reading whenever I have the time - specifically true crime, historical fiction and the occasional coming-of-age or young adult book. My tastes are pretty varied and I'm always open to recommendations! Anyway, just wanted to join to meet some new people to share opinions and suggestions with. Hit me up!

message 796: by Jon (new)

Jon Nemcek | 1 comments Hey everyone my name's Jon, I'm 20 and a rising junior going to school in Nashville, TN majoring in Entrepreneurship and Music. I found this site on Stumbleupon and so far like what it has to offer. I'm totally new to GoodReads and this group but excited to see what interesting discussion and suggestions come from it! I enjoy genres from fiction, biographical, non-fiction, mystery, horror, essays, etc. but mostly enjoy the discussion that follows them. Looking forward to the posts! Cheers.

message 797: by Roland (new)

Roland Nuñez | 4 comments Hi all! I'm Roland and I'm a lifelong college student!

What I mean by that is that I loved college so much, I went back to grad school to get my student affairs degree and now work at a university while I work on my doctorate degree. It's fun working with college students every day, especially since I'm only 25 and can relate to them more than other administrators.

I'm a reader of college fiction (books that take place in colleges or other schools) and love to write about college fictions (books and plays specifically).
