Gee Williamson | 2 comments I’m looking to buy a kindle but I’m not sure if it’s worthwhile, I’ve heard good things and I want to be able to read easily on the go, plus I’m running out of space for physical books so I wanted to know if it’s worth the investment

Elizabeth Sofia | 4 comments Hi, Gee. I am 65, and swore up and down a stack of Bibles for decades that I would never get a Kindle. I love everything about a physical book.

In the early 2010's, I bought the Barnes and Noble Nook. I never really liked it, understood it, or used it.

Fast forward to 2022. I bought a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas. In February or March 2023 I added Kindle Unlimited. I love it. I am losing my sight, and on my Kindle I can increase the print size to whatever I need. I love it, and consider it well worth the money.

Yeah, a kindle is super great. I have a kindle scribe so you can adjust the light on it and it has barely any glare, so it’s great for your eyes. It’s amazing to use anytime!

Gee Williamson | 2 comments This is exactly what I needed to hear! I was worried it would ruin the experience of reading and I used to swear I would always be a person who only read physical books as it feels like an experience but these comments really helped ☺️🩷🫂

Jenna | 4 comments Yess! I swear by my Kindle. I just got it for my birthday in September and am never ever looking to go back! My favorite things about it:

1) the battery lasts FOREVER. I use it all the time and I’ve only had to charge it 2-3 times, meaning that I’m never worried it’s going to die when I need it

2) it’s super small and has a good amount of storage. Unlike a bookshelf, the kindle doesn’t take up much space and can store a whole bunch of books

3) it only needs WiFi when you’re downloading a new book so I’ve been able to take it everywhere and read and it’s so much more portable than a print book

4) if you use Netgalley it’s amazing because any book I’ve gotten an ARC of you can just tap a button and send it to your kindle.

I hope this helps!! I don’t have kindle unlimited I just buy all the books I read or get free ARCs. I’m not sure how worth it the unlimited is, but the kindle itself is great!

Mim | 3 comments I don't use kindle. I use "normal" tablet. I got lenovo. Works fine for reading books (I also watch youtube, movies etc. From tablet I hardly ever use tv 😅).
This one works with wifi. You could put sim card but I don't need one. And best part is you can buy memory card as big as you need to store your books 😊
Downsize is the screen will be shiny on sunny weather even with adjusting the light. Maybe buying screen protector that is not so shiny might help.
This table didn't cost much (around 100€). I don't know how much kindle is but this tablet was more than worth its money.
Just alternative suggestion 😊

George Stenger | 4 comments I love my Kindle fire. It is so convenient that I only read physical books if I can't find a Kindle version from the library. I used to have thousands of physical books and I donated the vast majority of them.

Keila (Taylor's Version)🇵🇸⸆⸉ ོ | 25 comments Yes, i definitely recommend getting a kindle. I got one 2 years ago and I use it all the time. You don't have to buy the books, you can just download them on your laptop, and then send them on your kindle email. You can see how many minutes you have left on your chapter/ book etc.

Em | 8 comments I put off getting a Kindle for years, and then I finally caved when I started uni because of how expensive physical books can be. I like reading off the Kindle, but I do still prefer physical books. However, the 99p deals on Amazon (daily and monthly) are very cool, and I usually don't buy ebooks if they're more than maybe £1.50-£2.

If you're looking for an opportunity to expand your reading without spending a lot of money on books you might not like, then the Kindle might be a good idea just because of how good the deals are. I've read a lot of ebooks that I probably wouldn't have considered if they were physical forms because of the price.

I'll also say that the whole 'decorating my Kindle' trend on TikTok, as well as people buying the newest version just because it's the newest version, is not realistic at all. My first kindle was a £15 Kindle Gen 1 that I brought from a local reused tech store, and it functioned pretty much exactly the same as the newer versions (other than touch screen mechanics and access to the store via the Kindle). If you can find a cheap older edition to try out for your first Kindle, I'd 100% recommend it, and then upgrade later if you want to.

Hope this helps :)
