5*s

Having followed Sonny and Cher from the time they started, I loved this memoir. I was reliving parts of it, like the Sonny and Cher show and the disappointment when they divorced. The birth of Chastity and then her countless boyfriends afterward.

I thought it was very well done and honest and I'm looking forward to the next part.

Paula | 818 comments 50. They All Had a Reason - Michele Leathers

5*s

Charlotte is going to a birthday party for her friend Bridger and his twin sister Bellany. She doesn't care for Bellany at all, she is mean and vindictive. Bellany locks Charlotte in the basement but she finds a way out. She follows Bellany to the woods because she is meeting someone. She finds her dead and now Charlotte is the prime suspect.

I thought this was well done and had some good twists to it. I would read another Leathers book.

Paula | 818 comments 51. The Hired Man - Sandra Dallas

4*s

I love Sandra Dallas and the way she brings her characters and locations to life. I always feel like I'm in the story.

This book centered around the dust bowl era and the Kessler family in a small south eastern town in Colorado. When Otis showed up, I was very interested in his character because he seemed to be someone who needed a hand and was a good person. The Kessler's are a good family but mom has a secret to keep. The pages kept turning as I couldn't stop reading.

Dallas knows how to weave a story and keep you interested.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.

Paula | 818 comments 53. One Perfect Couple - Ruth Ware

3 *s

Lyla and her boyfriend Nico are chosen to go to an island for a reality TV show titled "One Perfect Couple". Lyla does not want to go but Nico thinks it will make his career so they go. Things start going wrong as soon as they land when a storm comes, everyone is just trying to survive.

I liked the premise of the storyline but it soon became a cross between Lord of the Flies and Hunger Games. I read the entire book hoping for a good twist but it didn't happen for me. I would give it a 3.5 if I could but settled for 3 stars.

Paula | 818 comments 54. Gathering of Secrets - Linda Castillo

4*s

Kate is called in when a young Amish man is found to have burned in a room in his families barn. While investigating, she discovers that he is not the "nice" kid everyone thought he was.

I always enjoy these books, and this one had so many ways to go. It kept me guessing until the end. I enjoy the characters who make up the police department and the relationship between Kate and Thomasetti.

Paula | 818 comments 55. Imposter - LJ Ross

5*s

Dr. Alex Gregory lives in London and works in a mental hospital trying to help these people get better. His mentor comes to him and says he has offered for him to fly to a small town in Ireland to put together a profile for a person who has murdered a well liked wife and mother. Alex meets the mayor, mother of two sons who work for the police department. Not everyone is happy to have Alex there but after another murder, they do need his help.

This was a well done book and apparently the start of a new series which I would continue to read. There were some twists and the pages kept turning as I tried and failed to guess the criminal in this case.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.

Paula | 818 comments 56. The Medici Curse - Daco S. Auffenorde

4*s

The Medici Curse is from a beautiful necklace that Anna supposedly killed her mother to get when she was 12. Now she's and adult and has returned to Tuscany to reclaim her birthright property.

I enjoyed this gothic mystery tale. The characters were likable (until you get to know them). The descriptions of the surroundings were creepy and the plot good.

Paula | 818 comments 57. Chocolate Covered Murder - Leslie Meier

3 *s

It's February in Tinker's Cove and almost time for Valentine's Day. Lucy is trying to get some love stories for the paper. She gets stuck in the snow and a nice older man she knows helps get her out. Later he is found dead while ice fishing on the lake. The police think it's an accident but Lucy thinks it's murder.

This was a fun installment of life in Tinker's Cove and a few new characters. These are always a nice break from reading heavier stuff.

Paula | 818 comments 58. The Stolen Queen - Fiona Davis

4*s

I love stories about archaeology and Egypt. This is about both so I was in heaven.

Charlotte 40 years before had discovered a new tomb. While in Egypt tragedy has struck and she has sworn to never go to Egypt again.

Annie a young woman living with her mother and caring for her through her numerous breakups, is unceremoniously pushed out of her home for her mother's latest boyfriend to move in. She gets a job at the Met and meets Charlotte.

I loved the connection between Charlotte and Annie, they were good for each other. The adventure begins for the two and makes for an interesting story.

4*s

Chelsea a young realtor is found dead in a model home. Hank soon finds it was murder, the woman was poisoned.

This one ends with a cliffhanger so I'm looking forward to the next one!
