Kristie | 19371 comments I am 82% through Salem's Lot as of last night. I am at the part where I really want to keep reading, but also don't want to read it right before bed. lol I hope to finish today.

Jayme | 4618 comments I am starting Heartwood today and and might be able to get another spooky October read in before the end of October.

Janice (jamasc) | 60176 comments I'm reading Birdie which is my real life book selection. It's a bit of a slog - mostly character driven with little plot.

Like Jayme, I'd like to get in another spooky themed book before Halloween. I should finish Birdie this weekend and will listen to Stephen Fry with his Ghost Stories: Stephen Fry's Definitive Collection. I bought the audiobook yesterday.

Kristie | 19371 comments I just finished ’Salem’s Lot. It was strange to read something set in the 1970s without it being written as historical fiction. Some of the comments and things people would say or do back then would be totally unacceptable now. It makes you want to cringe.

I am finishing the end of The Women on Platform Two, then starting While It Was Snowing. I'm all around the place with genres today!

Janice (jamasc) | 60176 comments I finished Birdie this afternoon. If it wasn't this it our real life book club selection, I would have likely not finished it. A lot of it was over my head. It was great hearing my city mentioned several times.

It's Halloween so I've decided Ghost Stories: Stephen Fry's Definitive Collection will fit the bill and I'll start listening to it tomorrow.

Janice (jamasc) | 60176 comments I finished Work in Progress last night. I chose it because it looked fun. It was... until it wasn't. It started out funny, but fizzled out somewhere in the middle and then it was just one of those mushy silly romances that I don't like.

I will start White Crow today for my list challenge. I need a book with the word Crow in the title and this was .99 cents. There was another one I had earmarked that was the same price but 500+ pages. White Crow is 254 pgs.

Kristie | 19371 comments This one was cute, but the interfering family took away from the story for me. 3.5★

While It Was Snowing by Julia London - my While It Was Snowing review

Sandra (sanlema) | 11334 comments Last night I finished just on time my reread of The Haunting of Hill House for October's challenge. Still 4 stars.

I'm starting today The Woman They Could Not Silence: One Woman, Her Incredible Fight for Freedom, and the Men Who Tried to Make Her Disappear for my book club.

Janice (jamasc) | 60176 comments I finished Ghost Stories: Stephen Fry's Definitive Collection last night, Halloween night, in the semi darkness. It was probably a 3 star read for me. Ghost stories from the 19th century were pretty tame. I slept well enough.

I'll be starting The Tainted Cup this afternoon for the group themed read.
