Kristie | 19138 comments Thanks, ladies. Yes, Jayme. We enjoy road trips. Sometimes we’ll just pick somewhere far away to go for a long drive. We’ve driven from Richmond to Virginia Beach for ice-cream before. lol Fortunately, we both enjoy audiobooks so I picked a long one for the drive.

Grainne Coughlan | 1297 comments @Kristie A nice long audiobook to listen to until your reach your destination, I love your style. Have a safe journey and enjoy the small treats that a holiday brings!

@margo I hope your surgery went well.

Margo | 11628 comments Kristie, my eye surgery went well. I can't tell you how good it is to be able see clearly out of both eyes again, we take so much for granted!!! Only problem is, I can all the dirt in my house that wasn't visible to me for the past year - but thankfully I'm back on the road again so I can easily drive away and forget about it 🥳

I'm so pleased to hear your flood nightmare is finally coming to an end! It's been quite a year for you. You can enjoy your holiday knowing you're going home to a workman free zone 😊

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments That's great news, Kirstie, I hope you will enjoy your trip. And finally, the works are done! It really took them a long time.

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments @Margo: I'm relieved that your eye surgey went well. Now you can read a lot, again, haha! You just have selective vision: ignore the dirt in your house 😊

Kristie | 19138 comments Glad it went well, Margo. Too funny about seeing the dirt again. lol Where are you headed?

message 410: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments That is great, Margo. When my grandma had the same surgery in both her eyes the first thing she said was "my face is all wrinkled, why did nobody tell me?". The second one was the dirt, of course.

message 411: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments @Sandra - my wrinkles were the second thing I saw!!!

@Kristie - we're headed West to Mayo for a few days, to family. Can't afford to go further afield this year, but Mayo is one of my favourite places, and the cousins I'm visiting are some of my favourite people so I'm looking forward to it 😊

My cousins youngest has just started school so I can't to talk to him to hear how he got on (and see how Mammy felt!).

Kristie | 19138 comments Driving home from vacation already tomorrow. Our week started out with crummy weather and the ocean was pretty angry, so we didn't get to enjoy it very much. We did take walks on the beach and played some games and still had a decent time, but we were considering going home a couple of days early. I'm really glad we decided to stay because the last two days were the best of the trip. We had beautiful weather and sat on the beach and took a dinner cruise. It was a lot of fun. It looks like the poor weather is returning tomorrow, so we are happy to be heading home.

Bonus - while it was rainy out, we stopped by a book store and I grabbed a few books off the sale rack. :)

Travel bonus - I'm really looking forward to listening to All the Colors of the Dark on the drive.

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments Well, fortunately you've got a couple of days of good weather and the bad weather was a good excuse to buy books :)

message 419: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Sounds like you made the best of it, Kristie. Good to have at least a couple of days of good weather.

message 420: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19138 comments Yes, we ended up having a really good time regardless of the weather. We got some new games to try out and did a puzzle. It was nice to have some down time together.

message 421: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments That's what you want in a vacation.

You must have sent some of that weather here. We've had uncharacteristic hot weather the last couple of weeks. I thought it was rather dark this morning when I woke (at 7:00). By 8:00, we'd had thunder, wind, and rain. For being one week into September, that's just bizarre.

message 422: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments We had 30 degrees yesterday. It was the hottest 7th Sept. since the meassurements. Now it's 10 degrees colder.

We had a bunch of rain at home. When we left, it was beautiful all week. We had quite a bit of rain in both Savannah and Daytona, so I think we brought it with us. We just missed a storm when we got home though and it's supposed to be nice here all week so hopefully we left it behind.

Sarah | 18550 comments That's great to hear your eye surgery is all done and it has made a big difference for you Margo.

Glad you had a good holiday Kristie. I'm off to Puerto de la duquesa in Spain on Friday for 10 days. I'm looking forward to it. Just handed in my final assignment for year 2. I literally have the time i have in spain off studying and then it's in to year 3.

My car has been broken this week. The same problem as i had a couple months back. Turns out they didn't fix it properly so they sorted it out for me and i didn't have to pay. First time I've ever collected a car from a garage and not had to pay anything. It felt weird lol. It was a big job too.

I don't think i have much else to report.

message 425: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments Have a nice holiday, Sarah, time to reload the batteries until year 3. Will this be your final year? Well, that's a good gesture from the garage!

message 426: by Grainne (new)

Grainne Coughlan | 1297 comments I am glad you had a lovely holiday Kristie.

The blackberries are in fruit here and as I was out walking, I stopped and picked a few and ate them as I strolled. I managed to fit the walk in between rain showers.

Enjoy your holiday Sarah. It's great that you can fit it in between your studies.
