The heating issue is supposed to be getting fixed today. Although it's been out since Friday evened they originally told us Saturday, so fingers crossed they actually come today.
The plumber to get the water turned back on was supposed to come yesterday, but it got late and the broken pipe is in the wall (a time-consuming project) so he rescheduled for today. His office just called to say it will be tomorrow morning instead, but at least they gave us an appointment time. So fingers crossed again.
We've been playing phone tag with the restoration people for the water damage. That's going to be a huge project. I'm hoping they can come do an assessment today and get started. We really don't know what we should be doing to help the project along until they get here.
My car is on the way back to the repair shop now, so hopefully they can take care of the issues with that. Fortunately, we will be getting a rental car so at least I won't be carless. Hubby is dropping it off and glad he will have heat for a little while and can thaw out while driving.
And finally, the wrist and ankle aren't too bad. I think they just need some time to heal. Just really poor timing with needing to get so much done and likely moving a lot of things into different rooms.
Trying to stay positive and hoping things start moving in the right direction soon.

Yesterday I pulled out all the things I would need from my bedroom, bathroom, and living room so they could pull up all the wet carpeting. Today, they are removing the rest of the furniture and the carpeting from my bedroom and living room, plus tearing out about 60% of the ceiling from my living room. It is going to be a mess in there for a while. But once it is dried, they can start replacing everything so it should be good in the end.

I've been a bit AWOL. Started full time uni in January so just getting used to juggling the work load. So far so good but it does mean I've less time for reading fiction. So perhaps deciding to do the yearly challenge was a mistake lol. I am enjoying my uni reading though, so that's a bonus!
It's pretty cold here at the moment. We're supposed to get some snow, I think.

Woke up the next morning and my eye was about 70% blood red. Freaked out, managed to get a doctors appointment. Turns out if something hits you hard and fast enough in the eye, the trauma response is pretty much what I had. Antihistamines and ice reduces any swelling, so prob wasn't an allergy, just got punched in the eye by a large bug. It hit me right on the edge of my cornea which is lucky as things get more complicated if that gets damaged. Luckily my vision was good and unaffected so wasn't too worried. Slight cut, started to ulcerate, antibiotics for me.
Went back to work on Wed, with a 100% blood red eye. Kept scaring myself in the mirror but life carries on. Went down slowly each day and as of today I have two small blood red spots under my iris and to the top left of my iris left.
Last Friday - finished work and went and had a beer in the backyard in the sun. Lexx got up to chase the chickens out of the garden bed, walks back over and steps on a bee. He's allergic, and while not as bad as when he headbutted a bee in November, not great. He can't walk all weekend, foot like elephant man, itchy and sore. He's had pain in his ankle for most of the week, but he's just got his foot back into a shoe today and is trying his luck with pickleball. Let's see how that goes.
Wednesday - I am sitting in my office and I look down and there is a wasp on my shirt. Low key try and flick it off pulling my sleeve and front out. Somehow get my shirt half off, and the wasp inside my shirt. Yelp loudly and weirdly, quickly rip off my shirt (and luckily have a singlet on underneath but you know, wouldn't have been bothered), throw to the floor, and manage to close the door without being seen. Then have to retrieve shirt and flap it out the window on the the main street of Uni during Graduation week without dropping the shirt, getting stung by the wasp, or drawing attention to the undressed fat woman in the window.
I am over insects...

@Rusalka: that sounds horrible! Gladly you didn't have eye sight loss or something. I think you've had enough insects drama for a year now and hopefully they stay out of your way. I'm allergic to wasps too, so I would've reacted the same way.

We are currently waiting on an estimate to get all the pipes in the house replaced while the ceiling is open. The car is still at the shop. Hopefully we'll have it back soon.
Oh no, Rus! Hope that is your last encounter with insects for a while! Yikes.

We have cold around but only had a few days below -20C. It's a balmy -11 right now. usually it's the time when -25 is considered warm. Winter storm season usually starts mid-february. We will see how it goes.

I was concerned about fires this year, but ground is too wet now and will start to cool off soon. Weather has been strange.

I hope you can wrap up this chapter soon and leave it behind you, Kristie.

I haven't been sick this many for years and now it doesn't stop. It's just not the moment to be sick at work.
Sorry, I had to rant a bit...

Glad to hear things are progressing......slowly

Rusalka, hope your eye and Lexxs leg continue to heal. There must be easier ways of killing bugs π

Esther, I feel cold just reading your post! I don't know how you guys survive such cold temps. We panic if it hits -4C here!!!

Saar, you're having a bad time with illness at the moment. Hope the doctor can help, in the meantime take care.

I went to the doctor's yesterday and at that day the weather gods choose to let it snow a lot! Wasn't the greatest ride with my bike.
I've got a viral infection, sinusitis, a stomach bug and a collapsed inner ear. I've got some medication, but rest must do the trick, she said. I'm a week in sick leave, so I'll hope that will be enough.
I managed to read a bit.
That seems like the best plan ever, Jayme!
