In 1954 in Mendol, Oklahoma Bailey Dowery works as a seamstress where she does fittings for designer ware and makes one of a kind wedding gowns. Her problem is her gift or sight in which she can foretell if a marriage will be happy or who is the woman's true love.

This is the second book in a row in which a main character had a "gift" or the "sight" so it didn't work so well for me.

Reading the book I was quite involved with it, but upon finishing, I realized I had all sorts of little quibbles with it. For instance how does one pin women in their dresses wearing cotton gloves? If you have ever sewn, you know that is just not practical. That was only one of my quibbles, so I took it down half a notch.
