I vote for heist but here are the books that I definitely have lined up to read:

I really don't plan, my books. I keep a list of options for what I need for challenges and then go by mood, availability, and format of book. I usually have at least two going at a time ebook/physical and audiobook.
Current Audio:
Trick Shot by Kayla Grosse
Current ebook/physical:
Deciding ~ Just finished Knot My Type by Evie Mitchell this morning.
⬆️ Has rope on the cover if we want to use that as heist material
Update: Ebook/physical (Decided): The Complete Lockpick Pornography ~ chosen only because it's the only book I could find with lockpick (which I'm using for my solo d&d heist) ~ found it on Hoopla
I think writing it out beforehand makes sense Shan. I assume books finished after we were assigned this task, and before we finalize a plan, would count? Here's what's on my list if it helps anyone:
The Last Battle
The Road to Serfdom
Wedding Toasts I'll Never Give
When We Cease to Understand the World
Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor
Eric
Messenger
I do have books mapped out for the following items Item 2: Lockpick ~ above
Item 3: Mirror
Item 4: Backpack
Item 5: Grappling (Hook)
Item 6: Flashlight
Item 7: Mask
and possibly Item 8: (Map) of building) ~ haven't decided if I'm going to do this item yet
So, if we decide to use any of these items for our heist, let me know and I'll make it a priority to read first.
I'm going to take a swing at roughing something out.I read the info on our characters from https://5e.tools/classes.html#druid_xphb and tried to take advantage of our abilities.
Baamace, as a fairy, flies to the roof of the bank and sets it on fire. The security guards see the fire and set off the alarm. While the alarm is going off Shan and Tori (shifters) sneak in the back door using their low light vision to find the vault and use the rogue's lockpicking skills. In the meantime, Michelle and I will be on the road in front of the bank "helping" to keep people out of the bank and distracted. Once the bag of loot is found our druid summons an animal. The two shifters then pretend to have 'rescued' the animal by bundling it in a blanket (along with the loot) and walking it out of the bank.
Heist items:
Something to start the fire
Something to set on fire (paper, kindling, a book)
Blanket
Lockpick
Security - Security Guards & Alarms
A book with a security guard
A book with an alarm
A book with dark clothing (for the shifters)
A book with a distraction
Forgot to add my book
- Suitcase to carry the item in or the little girl with the suitcase. No one would suspect a child.I am currently reading this:
Maybe dressing up like a clown would cause a distraction
Skills... I'm going to try to get to the gym and back since the roads are much better but when I get back I'm going to look up more about these skills that we have. I like the story so far! I'm off this weekend and we have so much snow that I'm going to be at home most of the time so I should be able to get some serious reading done and could find a book with an item on the cover if I need to.
Completion Post
Book - The Church of Frendo by Adam Cesare
Date Read - 1/11/25
Possible Uses:
Scarecrow/Clown for a distraction or to set on fire
I wasn't sure how to handle tentative books that could be used. I posted the book I finished, but was not sure if the team would want to use it or not so I never put it on the SS.
I also went on a bender of this fast steamy romance books but am getting back to the regularly scheduled books. I also don't know what skills I'm supposed to be looking for.
I updated the spreadsheet with the words/items that we need and populated the books posted here. If anyone wants to claim anything else go for it.Also, any new books read recently that can be used for part 3? I think that's a matter of getting books and building the narrative.
I'm going to finish
tonight and it has cigarettes on the cover along with a few other things that could be useful.
I think we should list out everything we've read so someone can write up step 3. It would be easier to do it knowing what we have read and what words we can use instead of writing it and then forcing things to fit.
That's a great idea! I'm not very good with writing up stories. Unexpected snow days allowed me to read much more than I typically do already this month. Also, I found a hot steamy romance series that was a speed through for me. Here are all the things that I have read:

Just taking those titles I roughed this out: At the designated TIME, from the GUEST HOUSE NEXT door to the bank, Baamace flies to the roof while watching out for the BIG BOSSy and sets it on fire. The security guards see the fire and set off the alarm. Once the alarm goes TWO of our team (Shan and Tori) sneak in the back door and using their low light vision find the vault and use the rogue lockpicking skills. Our PLAN is to SHIFT attention to the front of the bank where Michelle and Jax are dressed like RICH PEOPLE making a GREAT and WILD distraction. In the mean time, Shan and Tori will find the bag of loot and cut the KNOT spilling the contents into their suuitacase. They put the bag back and sneak out the BROKEN window in the back.
Words in all caps are in titles. Please edit it however you see fit.
(I read the Thief of Time this month FYI)

That sounds good!
I like it. What do we need to do to get the spreadsheet in order so that we can go submit everything?
I updated the spreadsheet. If everyone wants to claim the lines that make sense for them we can see where things stand and start to wrap it up.
Alright, so it looks like we need a couple books left. I just added one with twigs and leaves on the cover.
Not sure what we're looking for to complete this task, "Something to start the fire", but I have these twoFlames on cover
Candle with flame

Looks like we need one book to start the fire (so either of those would work) and one where there's a distraction (pretty sure Assistant to the Villain had a few).
@Shan A-do you want to claim those two spots and check us in?

Will do!
Thanks for checking us in! I'm interested to see the next tasks. I have some random books coming up this week.
Quest 1A
Congratulations on a successful heist. You open up the suitcase, and it is full of dirt. Before the heist, the bank had hired a wizard to join their staff. He had placed an illusion spell on a bag full of dirt. The real bag of flour, which is endless and can end world hunger, is safe and sound in a secret vault. Do you concede? Do you plan another heist? Do you have another plan?

Oh man! We are definitely going to need to come up with another plan. I'll be home on and off all weekend to sit down and try to figure this out. Anybody have any ideas?
I'm not creative enough for this. 🤦🏽♀️I list the books I read her in a tracking post if it will help those of you with a more creative mind come up with the story element.
It's okay. We can figure it all out. I might not be on much tonight but Saturday and Sunday we can definitely knock this out. I'm working on figuring out which books that I need to knock out first. I got challenges happening everywhere!
I've never played the game before but I think we can figure this out. So, we know there is magic in the building and the flour is hidden in a vault. We could maybe have the fairy do something fun to try to attract the attention of the guards. We need to figure out how to find the secret vault. We could use our books to maybe use some magic to look through floors or walls. We might need something to pick locks or shift into something to help open doors.
These are the books that I've read and will read this week. I most likely will have a couple more but this is a good rough draft. That dog might be helpful or the snake.

I can try and think of something useful by then. I will do a separate post with the books I have read so far.
Maybe a shifter could shift into something small to get in through like the keyhole or a crack? And see if we can use magic to maybe portal the flour out? But we would still need a distraction to keep the guards awayKind of like in the D&D movie where they used a mirror portal to get the riches out of the secret vault

As the fairy distracts the guard by (something we find in a book), the shifter becomes a (a bug, a cat? something that can sneak in) through an opening. They cast a spell to transform the flour into a stream where it flows out of the opening into a container (something we find on a cover?) to hold the flour. In the meantime, the fairy has moved the distraction to some other venue via (something) which allows time for the other shifter to become a (something) and pick up the container and hide it in their clothes to carry out.Something like that?

I have a few things that we can use from my books. That's if they sound like a good idea.As the fairy distracts the guard by (EXPLOSION
