Your cover is flat black. What do you expect the background to look like?
There is no need to do that, we do not add placeholders to Goodreads, we only use the final cover as issued. When you see placeholders they have usually been added directly from Amazon by bots, we replace them when final image is available.
I know nothing about how Amazon operates, you would need to ask them.
If I were to remove the existing placeholder image the bot would replace it with the different placeholder image currently displayed at Amazon. As we do not use placeholder images on Goodreads that would be a waste of time.I will happily change the image when the actual cover is available from an acceptable source.
Only the lettering is different. As Martin said, we would not remove a placeholder only to be replaced by another placeholder.
If it is a background on the app it has nothing to do with librarians, we can only add and replace cover images.
