Lea (leaspot) | 3670 comments I never read the actual books that I have on my shelves either. Hope you enjoy these. I haven't read any of them yet.

I do like the sound of the Dorothy Parker murder case.

I've read one other in that series, Bill, and really liked it.

Royal Feud and The People's King both sound interesting.

I recently watched a documentary about Edward VIII & George VI and discovered that Edward actually wrote memoirs. It seems to be long out of print but I was able to find a copy that looks in good condition (esp for a 70 year old book) and at a reasonable price. Just waiting on it being delivered now.

You'll have to let me know how that memoir is! I've heard about it but not read it. If you are interested in the abdication, The Crown in Crisis Countdown to the Abdication by Alexander Larman was really good.

Jackie | 1107 comments Every year my intention is to read the books that are at the house. I have decided that this year, I will make the first book of each month an actual book I own. This should guaranty that I read 12 books for sure!!!

Oh, great idea (plans to steal it)....

So, Jackie, I pulled my first two "real" books and put them on my nightstand, and as soon as I finish the two "real" book leftovers I'm still going through from last year, one of them will be the inaugural book for my theft of your plan.

Jackie | 1107 comments I highly encourage you in this plan. I just finished You Never Know A Memoir by Tom Selleck , which was my first planned book for 2025. My hope was that I would be donating the books after I read them, but there is no way that I am giving up the photos in this book! However, I have achieved my goal for the monthly read of an owned book. Next month I will try another book that is more likely to be donateable.

Denise (derickert) | 1270 comments I haven't read any of your choices, but wish you the best of luck on your challenge. I myself used to buy books were ever I found them, and have had a hard time getting to actually read them.
