Hey all - do we have any seasoned members that have read lots of Frieda McFadden books? I’m curious what the sentiment is around the rest of her books besides The Housemaid. Any must reads? Any misses?

Haley | 33 comments I absolutely loved do not disturb and it’s my favorite! I know Never lie was super popular and I thought it was mediocre (unpopular opinion). Brain damage was boring imo.

Ooooh ok I’ll read Do Not Disturb!! Agreed on Never Lie I thought it was quite plain

Lauren McLoughlin | 7 comments I’m reading The Boyfriend (about halfway through) and I’m not hooked on it yet… but I’ll keep you posted!

Haley | 33 comments I loved the boyfriend and was hooked the whole way through but I also read her books in one sitting

Yeah I guess I can never be made about a Freida book because they’re just so quick and easy. I’ve heard some negative things about The CoWorker as one not to bother with, and I’ve heard good things about Ward D so I may give that a go.

Ooooh The Ex I’ll give that a read soon!

Erica Nunn | 8 comments I read the Housemaid #1 and loved it soooo much that I bought the co-worker, never lie and the inmate. I found them to be rubbish though, and felt they lacked depth. Never Lie I didn't like as it was a book where the entire book was based in one house, and I found it a bit boring.

John | 14 comments I recently got into her books. To me they’re such easy fun reads but sometimes make no sense.

I loved the Housemaid, liked the second one.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Teacher (the ending was a bit much)

I hated Never Lie (sorry to those who like it!)

Right now I’m actually reading One by One and enjoying it so far.

Would love recommendations!

Haley | 33 comments Also hated never lie! Loved one by one. Do not disturb was also good in my opinion. My all time favorite is the crash which is the new one being released soon. I got a kindle early release and it’s the best Freida I read. The boyfriend was decent too. I would try do not disturb!

John | 14 comments Oh that makes me really excited to read Crash when it releases! I’ll add Do Not Disturb and the Boyfriend to my list. Thanks!

Ashlyn Dunlap | 1 comments I’ve read 17 Fredia McFadden books!
I’ve never disliked one but I did like some a lot more than others. I first read the housemaid series and was really hooked. I read the first two books within a week. Some were audible only listens so not as popular as the one she is known for. I really like her surprise twist. You know a twist is coming but you can never exactly figure out what it will be! I just started sharing the books with my mom and she doesn’t seem to like them as much. She’s more into romance novels but i’ve always been a murder mystery girl.
My favorites: The Inmate, The Coworker, The Housemaid (1 & 2), The Boyfriend, Dead Med, & Ward D.

John | 14 comments 17, dang! Oh I’ll add some of those as well to my list.

pandapretzel | 5 comments Besides the Housemaid series, I've read Never Lie and The Boyfriend. Both books hooked me and I finished them really fast. Never Lie was pretty good, The Boyfriend was okay. I feel like her books are a really easy and an engaging read but sometimes they don't execute overall for me.

Has anyone read ‘The Surrogate Mother’ by Freida? I bought it today thinking it was her new book but I think it’s just a new cover of one from 2022!

Oh yeah, I have! I thought it was pretty cliché but definitely worth a shot since it’s by Freida :D I will likely give it a second read
