This group has existed since March 2018. The way the group works has changed since its inception, so here's an update as of December 2024.

Each month we read two books from the list of Hugo & Nebula nominees & winners. That list of 639 books is organized into shelves, or themes.
See the "Bookshelf" link on the group home page or use this link:
https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

The moderators select two themes for each month, depending on how many we've read in the different categories, or members' ideas for themes. The thread for the 2025 themes here:

Each month, in the first week or so, a message will be sent to all members to nominate books within the two themes. After a week of nominations, polls are posted for the members to vote for the books they want to read. This process takes place two months ahead of time so that members can borrow or acquire the books, because sometimes they can be hard to find or have long hold times at libraries.

Creation of the polls will be announced in the nomination thread, as are the winners for that month. The selected books will then appear at the top of the home page as their month comes up. There will be two discussion threads posted for each book: "No Spoilers", for early impressions of the books without plot spoilers & "Spoilers", for final comments, complete with spoilers.

Last step, when the books are completed, the bookshelves are updated to reflect that the group has read the book. At any time, if a member notices a discrepancy in the bookshelves, they should post it or message it to one of the moderators. Likewise, if you ever have a question, message one of us and we'll jump in to help you out.
