I came across a book a while ago, a graphic novel, I think, about this Native American girl who discovers she has fire powers, and has to protect her town from something. If I remember correctly, the cover was of her in a blue hoodie, holding flames that spelled out the title.

plot:
book is about a girl and a boy who are best friends. they live somewhere that is very cold. they both play on the same baseball team. they have been friends from a young age but now they are growing apart. the girl joins her schools softball team. at the end both the book **spoiler** the girl and the boy are on their schoolbus, and the boy reaches for the girl, except his hand lands on her *chest*. then their friendship is over for real. at least one of them lives in an apartment.
cover: the boy and the girl are sitting in a pipe, which is their hangout spot. it is painted/illustrated.
other details: book is mg/ya.
