Here is my 3.8 rounded to 4 stars review of Wolf to the Rescue by Terry Spear:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Paranormal Romantic Suspense
Novella
Book 4.5 in the White Wolf series
There's plenty of action, suspense, and romance, but I wanted a little more character depth.
Great world-building
Cannot recommend the second book in the Seasons of Change series by Kasey Stockton. I gave it a 2** rating and review:
A Forgiving Hearthttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The second novel in The Worthingtons series,
When a Marquis Chooses a Bride by Ella Quinn audiobook rendition was a disappointment as the narrator's performance was dismal. My 2.5** review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here is my 4.27 rounded to 4 stars review of Flight of the White Wolf by Terry Spear:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Paranormal Romantic Suspense
3rd book in the white wolf series
Great characterization and world-building

Entertaining and full of romance, danger, and suspense.
Here is my 3.78 rounded to 4 stars review of The Highland Heist by Pepper Basham:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Christian Historical Mystery with a little Romance
4th book in the Frederick and Grace Mystery series
Funny, heartwarming at times, plenty of adventure, action, & suspense
The mystery was a little too easy to discern.
A fun and entertaining book, nonetheless.
Here is my 3.93 rounded to 4 stars review of Ancient Warlord by Katie Reus:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Paranormal romance with a little suspense
10th book in the Ancients Rising Series
Overall, this was an entertaining and enjoyable book with humor, great characterization, and a sweet, but slow burn romance. I wanted more suspense and action.
Here is my 4.13 rounded to 4 stars review of The Night Collector by Victor Methos:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Legal / Crime Thriller
2nd book in the Vegas Shadows series
Well-crafterd plot, great characterization, suspenseful
Investigation and Trial
I didn't like the ending. The case is solved, but there's a major situation that is left up in the air. Otherwise, this would have been a 5-star read for me.
I gave this book a 3*** star rating because I averaged out the first half (which was so-so) and the exciting second half of the book. I loved the premise, and I am glad I stuck with it to the end.
Forever Engaged by Ashtyn Newbold
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The lack of depth in the writing style made
Hazelhurst by Martha Keyes somewhat of a let-down. I gave it a 2.5** rating.My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A new release I looked forward to, but came up a little short for me,
A Secret Correspondence by Kasey Stockton. I only gave it a 3*** rating. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here is my 3.48 rounded to 3 stars review of You Make It Feel Like Christmas by Sophie Sullivan:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Contemporary Romance
Second Chance
Entertaining and light for the most part with a couple of deeper themes.
Humorous at times
Quibbles include: some telling vs. showing and the romance advancing too quickly
A retelling of The Ugly Duckling story in a sweet, clean Regency romance novella:
A Beautiful Love by Megan Walker
My 3*** review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Book #5 in the Regency House Party: Havencrest series,
The Marriage Bargain by Heidi Kimball, is about a marriage of convenience where rumors of clandestine affairs come to lightMy 3.5*** review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here is my 3.10 rounded to 3 stars review of The Salvage by Anbara Salam:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Literary Gothic Historical Fiction
This didn't feel like horror to me although others have categorized it as such.
This is great world-building and atmosphere.
I wanted more suspense and danger and a faster pace. It was extremely slow.
I recently finished a novella in the Business of Love collection about a blind man that marries a woman with a disfigured face
At First Sight by Ashtyn Newbold
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished another novella in the Business of Love collection, this time I cannot recommend it.
Ashbrook Abbey by Heather Chapman
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished the final novella in the Business of Love collection:
First Comes Marriage by Paula Kremser
My 3*** review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I listened to a Christian Regency romance audiobook with all 3 POV's of the love triangle in this story
The Painter's Daughter by Julie Klassen, narrated by James Gillies
My 4.5**** review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here is my 4.36 rounded to 4 stars review of Mated for Christmas by Terry Spear:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Paranormal Romantic Suspense
5th book in the White Wolf Series
Entertaining, feel-good romance with some action and suspense.
Great world-building and characterization
I gave
Love in the Wager by Kasey Stockton a 1.5* rating. This novel in the Women of Worth series was not worth finishing. I don't know why I did.My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The prequel novella in the Bradwell Brothers series would make a great beach read.
Properly Kissed by Kasey Stockton
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just started Stieg Larsson’s ‘The Girl Who Played With Fire.’ Love it so far. It’s been a while since I read the first installment of the trilogy, and Larsson really brings you back in with terse prose and fast-moving, detail-oriented plot. I keep trying to figure out what makes his writing so addictive. I think it’s his straight-over-the-plate descriptions. Very little visuals, very little metaphor. Just solid accounts of the events occurring, with in-depth character perspective. No fluff, all movement. And compelling, complex plot.
Book #3 of the Noble Charades series by Ashtyn Newbold is a sweet and clean Regency romance that was full of games, which made it a fun escape read.
The Parlor GameMy review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Aaron wrote: "I just started Stieg Larsson’s ‘The Girl Who Played With Fire.’ Love it so far. It’s been a while since I read the first installment of the trilogy, and Larsson really brings you back in with terse..."I read those books when they first hit, years ago now. Addictive page turners.
I’m reading Alexander Dumas The Queen's Necklace Based on true events involving an incredible con in the late 1700s in Paris. Marie Antoinette was the Queen but she wasn’t part of it, although rumours spread and the whole affair soured her name with the public and helped fuel the revolution. Fascinating read.
I don't know when I last updated here, but I am currently reading Iona Iverson's Rules for Commuting and My Sister's Grave.
Starting the audio of All the Colors of the Dark tomorrow morning as we begin our travels home from vacation. I'm hoping we can make our way through the whole book, or close to, over a couple of days.
Here is my 3.98 rounded to 4 stars review of The Tourists by Christopher Reich:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Political / Espionage Thriller
2nd book in the Mac Dekker series
Entertaining thriller
Race against the clock
Plenty of twists and turns
Flashbacks help readers understand what has transpired but adversely affected the flow for me.
Here is my 4.05 rounded to 4 stars review of Willow Rose by M. Kevin Hayden:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Horror, but so much more.
Great atmosphere and world-building
Connections
Fascinating
Here is my 4.46 rounded to 4 stars review of Blind Date with a Werewolf by Patricia Briggs:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Urban fantasy
Alpha & Omega-verse
Features deadly and reclusive werewolf
Gifted 5 blind dates by some anonymous and concerned friends.
Good vs. Evil
Some humor
Great characterization
Compelling storyline
Plenty of action and violence
My least favorite was date two which is written as the aftermath and cleanup of the date rather than the action date.
Five stories (2 newly published) and an Epilogue combined into a novelization.
Finished and enjoyed Ambush at Central Park: When the IRA Came to New YorkMy Review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/7886317547
I finished Chomp. It was much more serious than I expected it to be. There was some intended humor, but it was childish and there were also some heavy topics including child abuse, running away from home, assault with a gun, alcohol abuse, etc. I feel like if you’re ready for those heavy topics you probably won’t find the humor included very funny.I'm now starting A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALS, and Dangerous Days at Sea.
