As an artist, I have split opinions on this. I think that it's important to advance technology, and learn more about its capabilities, but also wouldn't like my art to be stolen.
I think that it's a fun civilian tool, just for fun, not for commercial use. I also think it can be a low-budget option for companies who can't afford an artist to help with advertizing.
That being said, there need to be tighter regulations on what's allowed in AI databases. Everything fed into AI needs to be monitored, and approved by the creator, with a contracted agreement that any reproduction of their art/style will not be used for commercial purposes, outside of advertisement.

Agreed! I use AI-generated images often for random stuff, like trying to create a character from my imagination. I'm a terrible artist and stock images doesn't have what I need. But AI cannot replace real artists, and it needs to be regulated and controlled

Yeah, i agree what what Kippy is saying, and even Grammarly, which is AI generated actually helps people be better with grammar and more
It's good if you can't draw (what I mean is if you aren't using it for monetization and aren't using it illegally to create inappropriate messages then go for it.) If you want a pfp and you don't know how to make that pfp, use ai. Hope it works, dunno.
If you won't take the time to write the story, I won't take the time to read it.Likewise:
If you don't take the time to draw, I won't take the time to appreciate it

exactly!

For real, don't disrespect the only girl who "actually" likes me. 😂😭
Its a good tool but it should be heavily regulated. because now we cant trust pictures and videos anymore, and criminals can just get away with anything bc the proof isnt credible. and i totally agree, it steals the hard work and talent of many people, such as writers, artists, musicians, photographers, etc.

but ai is actually stealing the work of artists. like just search up some sort of art description, like a painting of a campfire, and almost everything you find is from ai. i know many people think of it as a tool, but the value of creating something pretty from ai is weak and diluted compared to making the real thing. I'm just really worried that as more technology develops, everything will lose value similarly.
I don't really care about it. It's a pretty nice tool to use, but I don't use it very much so that's probably why I don't care
it's really cool, but it also does have a lot of room for improvement (uhhh let's just pretend ai doesn't create a human with 3 arms)
As an artist and writer, it feels as though companies have skinned me and are wearing my face. I've written two college essays about it in which I discuss not only the emotional and social impacts of using AI, but the environmental consequences as well. (I'd be happy to share, in truth)In short, it's f!cked up. I have some quotes I'd love to share about it!
"AI has demonstrated that it can do semi-compelling screen savers. That's essentially that. The value of art is not how much it costs or how little effort it requires, it's how much would you risk to be in its presence. How much would people pay for those screensavers? Are they gonna make them cry because they lost a son? A mother? Because they misspent their youth? F!ck no."
"AI accidentally proved the existence of the human soul by showing us what art looks like without one."
And my personal favorite:
"Why should I bother reading something that nobody could be bother to write?"
Sai :) wrote: "yessss 🤩🤩 100% agreeand lmao can you send me the essays?"
haha yes of course!! if you'd mind dming me your email, i'll do my best to find them!
AI is in nature, immoral. AI database will scan the internet to create a generative photo or text based from all of the sources it got fed to mash them together to create a mildly coherent photo. Not only does this steal and mangle artist's work, but it is also TERRIBLE for the environment. The AI systems are hooked up to a huge computer essentially. The computer takes TONS of water to cool it down, depriving people actually in need of water, just so that the immoral and corrupt companies can feed off of other's unwillingness to commission an artist.
"But, Atticus, AI makes art accessible!!!!!"
...
Mate, you will find HUNDRED of artists who ask for like 5-10 dollars for a nice piece, art is a luxury, not a need.
Lowk have to write too essays on this topic (One affirmative and one negative) for speech and debate for March and April, so I'd be happy to share those if y'all would like (Once I finish)
Sai :) wrote: "sure!"i unfortunately haven't been able to find them yet, but i will message you once i do!!

No. The bad things that people can do with this technology completely overpower the benefits. You can take a picture of a real person and put it through AI to make it.. yk, and people can post it and its crazy. it uses a LOT of electricity, and i saw an article saying it needs water to let it cool, wasting water worth a ton more than like the 20 dollars you could spend instead on a painting. it was js an article, so i may not be completely correct with that, but still.
no, it's true, i've heard about it. ai sounds like a great idea, but someday it will wreck our society. trust me. who wants to live in an age where you can't trust videos or photos or anything anymore? where art and creation isn't valued, except for a light hobby? where millions of people will probably be fired in favor of ai robots? technology always sounds beautiful, but that's true only to a certain point. the world will lose so much of its meaning if we start to depend on ai.
who cares what a poem means if the robot who wrote it doesn't even understand it? who cares how well done a job is, if the ai program that did it didn't even care? humans have value and meaning. they can understand things and think deeply. robots and programs absolutely cannot.

if that robot became completely "human", then it would be perfect, too. but the issue with that is it would pose a lot of other problems. the idea of a robot is that it isn't living or conscious--- if we wreck that, then we wreck robots too.
so basically: i believe robots/ai is good only for medical situations and completing the most inhuman tasks ever, such as sewage or mining in dangerous locations. if ai starts to replace humans at a mass level, then i have a problem.

um i definitely think it shouldn't be allowed, at least not right now. it steals the work of artists and writers and its horrible for the environment.
guys you know the ai sexbots right...well there's this whole thing about abusive men taking out their violent desires on robots...so like they're encouraged to make it worse rather than seek actual help...LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK BC WTF
Yep 😀 People are literally using AI to make CSAM and simulating rape, but it actually encourages people to do those actions.
that's why the whole ai actress situation scares me because an ai actress can't say no to a scene or say she doesn't want her body to be portrayed a certain way, so the filmmakers can literally do whatever they want. i personally think it's going to inspire a whole new generation of more violent/disturbing media that will become normalized
i think ai is a great tool to help people with like learning disabilities or people who have trouble with things but when people get lazy and use it to write songs and books and make images that just crossing the line of personal creativity

Just wanted to share this for my friend Nikolai, they created a petition to ban ChatGPT and other AI chatbots for minors. There's more information and access to sign the petition here: https://c.org/dBBxHB8Jbd

no ones putting in the work or effort and soon they wont even be able to do that because they rely on ai for everything
Atp AI should NOT be given the ability to create images.🥀🥀✌️ Because nowadays instead of people hiring actual artists to make the cover of their book, songs, or anything that requires a drawing, people just tend to rely on ai to do that for them which basically erases the point of artists. :( and what's more annoying is that milennials and boomers are the people that LOVE using AI the most and they think it's alright to say "im really fond of using AI to make images" like, tf?? Ts is not a flex
