Jannelies (living between hope and fear) | 34 comments I'm am not going to reach my personal goal in 2024 - what with a very busy year in which I had to hand over my work to other people because I decided to retire - and a lot of physical problems for both me and my husband.
So, I hope 2025 will be a better year - especially on the health front - and I also hope I will have a little more time to read and to spend time here on GR.

I will set my goal for 2025 at 100 books.

Jannelies (living between hope and fear) | 34 comments Next to the 25 books on my TBR list with books from Netgalley and Edelweiss (this is for the first half of 2025), I also bought about 15 books in the past few months that I still want to read. In May the new John Connolly will be out and in June the new Stuart McBride. I'm looking forward to this year!

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments I'm sorry to hear about your health issues, Jannelies. But perhaps congratulations are in order on your retirement? I never know since not everybody enjoys the transition. Regardless, hopefully 2025 will be a much better year ! 🤞

Wishing you a fantastic 2025 😊.

Jannelies (living between hope and fear) | 34 comments Lisa, thank you! I'm still getting used to the idea, and I do miss my work, but after 48,5 years of full time working I think it's enough. I'm happy though I always made time to do fun things too.
Thank you for your kind words, and I'm wishing you a great 2025!

Jannelies (living between hope and fear) | 34 comments I just set my goal at 75 books for 2025. I don't know what the year will bring yet. I'm currently living between hope and fear for my husbands' health. This is not how we hoped to spend my first year of retirement.

Jannelies (living between hope and fear) | 34 comments I just published my review for Confessions, a Netgalley title due to be published on 23 January.

There is something I don't understand regarding the yearly challenge: I've already published 5 books now that have a publication date of 2025.
My challenge says I have not finished any book. What am I doing wrong here? Do they count for 2024 instead of 2025? Obviously, I finished reading them in 2024 but I would like to have them on my list for 2025.

JennH | 1324 comments Hi Jannelies! Hope you are doing well and that 2025 has been good to both you and your husband in your first year of retirement so far.

It's been a while and I see that you've been doing amazing in your goals, so I hope that what you were confused about the yearly challenge has been resolved.

Wishing you health and happy reading!

Jannelies (living between hope and fear) | 34 comments Dear Jenn, thank you! I'm ok but my husband is very ill so we're trying to make the most of it now we still can.
I'm still confused about the yearly challenge but nowadays I'm too busy to worry about little things like that 😉.
Today was a good day because I actually got to spend some hours on GR - and I realize my reviews are not up to my usual standard so I'm trying to do my best to find more time to write better reviews.

JennH | 1324 comments Jannelies, I'm so sorry to hear that your husband is so ill.

Is it the Goodreads challenge or the 2025 yearly challenges that you're confused about? Yes, it's not top priority right now, but I'd like to help clarify if I can, if you'd like.

I'm glad Goodreads is helping you have a good day. Wishing you more good days!

Jannelies (living between hope and fear) | 34 comments I made it 😀. I reached my goal for 2025. To my surprise, I must say; I didn't expect to have so much time to read. And since I do not have a long TBR list (pickings on Netgalley and Edelweiss are slim) I have more time to re-read favourite books although I do not always write a review for them.
