I tried to fix it, but it wouldn't let me type in that cell.

Autofill is great... except when it's not.

Sophia (jonquilles) | 192 comments A quick check in to say that Thursday was a total bust for me, got zero reading done unfortunately but I am determined to finish A Week in December today if it kills me (and it might, because it turns out I kinda hate it?) and I should be able to finish The Midnight Library tomorrow.

message 104: by Bea (new)

Bea | 430 comments I have read 5 books and had anticipated 5-6 for the readathon. I am starting to flag with other real life and TV things of more interest right now. My current book (Lessons in Chemistry) may not be finished by the end, so I will just add pages read.

I finished Earls Trip and put it under Chick Lit.

message 106: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1338 comments I finished Crazy for You: Christmas in Starlight Hill - short so could knock it off quickly and The Things We Keep which I had been listening to on audio most of the week today. I put them down for did-not-finish and maybe.

message 107: by JennH (new)

JennH | 564 comments I finally finished the book I'm reading online, hence the big page dump. Sadly the book has no genres but I hope to have added to the wild cards.

I'm currently working on The Lives of Saints by Leigh Bardugo which could give us Mythology. It's a short book. I have a book for True Crime that I'll try to get in as well.

message 108: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments I read so few pages yesterday it's not even worth tracking but will be included in today's count. I have one more batch of cookies to go and then can relax! At least baking means audio time.

message 109: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (jonquilles) | 192 comments Both A Week in December and Love & Saffron are done! I've put them under 2021 and 2022 and I only have 100 pages left so I'm going to finish The Midnight Library tonight, which will probably go under Bought. Then onto The Dark Flood for Africa, which will probably be my last book assuming I can finish it.

I finished my audio of The Geek Who Saved Christmas. It could go under 2024 or TBR. Do we have a preference?

message 111: by J (new)

J Austill | 1126 comments This weekend has gone well for me, for reading. I'm likely to finish both the Audio book and the ebook that I am reading. But they will likely only work for page count, I didn't do well at picking books that qualified for shelves.

you never know! we still have a bunch of generic shelves that need filling, like "currently-reading" is still open or some of the years or format shelves!

I finished my book for South America - Crooked Plow

Sorry I haven't done much over the weekend - house guests.

Don't forget to use the wildcards!!

message 115: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments Happy last day of the read-a-thon! I will finish my Kindle and hopefully my audio today.

We can definitely start using wild cards. There are 12 prompts with 0 options:

Need
1-Star
2-Star
Favorite
Favorite-Authors
Hated
Loved
Must-Read
Australia
Mexico
Thailand
United-Kingdom

And there are a handful of prompts with only 1 option.

I think we're safe to start using wildcards for those with 0 options as we have 15 available.

I added a Tags Unread formula so we can see how many we have left to fill.

message 116: by Edie (last edited Dec 15, 2024 08:23AM) (new)

Edie | 1147 comments Not sure I will be able to finish any of the books I have in progress. Started Covenant of Water which I am captured by and will add to pages read. I will try to finish Broken Horses and it has multiple options among the unfilled prompts.... if I can stay away from Covenant of Water,

I read the short 'Twas the Night Before Scandal and put it under Books I Own, which wasn't already filled in.

message 118: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 224 comments I wish I'd gotten to read a lot more this readathon but I did finish Donut Days today and if I get some time this afternoon I'll try to get a couple hours more audio in but I don't think I'll finish

Seconded, if someone can put them in.

message 120: by Nancy (last edited Dec 15, 2024 02:45PM) (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments Ok that's done! We still have 4 wild cards and 11 open prompts. I spread them out so everyone gets a wild card. :)

message 121: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1338 comments thanks all. It was fun reading with you. I got more pages in yesterday but I was reading novellas, so no more books to count.

message 122: by JennH (new)

JennH | 564 comments I just finished Metamorphosis by Frank Kakfa that can go for the elusive 'favorite' prompt. So the Wild Card that was placed there can go for something else, if needed.

I'm going to continue to work on Hannibal tonight but as I'm not even half way through, I am unlikely to finish it for the readathon. :( I'll do what I can and will update on my pages tomorrow.

It's been a really rough week, and I wasn't able to contribute and interact as I normally do during readathons. But this has been a much welcomed and much needed distraction, so thank you for providing that.

message 123: by Bea (new)

Bea | 430 comments It's been a good experience for a first time. I will do this again. Sorry that my reading fell off, but I am satisfied that I got at least 5 books completed.

you can just put in kafka for the favorite slot and move your wild card somewhere else! there's no way i'm going to finish cover-love before tomorrow so that would be a good place, for example.

My last short book is set in Madagascar, which is tagged Africa, so I put it there.

I added pages and we now have 5 wild cards.

Robin P | 4009 comments Mod
I thought I would only read about 5 books, but because I had some graphic novels and short books, I got in 9! Also some of my activities got canceled, so I had more time than I expected.

Fun reading with everyone - sorry I ended up not doing much over the weekend.

message 128: by Nancy (last edited Dec 16, 2024 06:03AM) (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments I went ahead and put Metamorphosis in Favorite and moved that Wild card to Biography.

I finished The Merry Matchmaker and put it in TBR.

We have 6 more wild cards as of now so I put them in. Feel free to move them if you finish a book that fits.

We have Currently-Reading, eBook, and 2023 left for anyone who hasn't checked in yet today! And 1 more wild card too. Great job everyone!

message 129: by Trish, Annular Mod (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) | 1236 comments Mod
I'd use the wild card for 2023, as I don't think we can add any more books now.

message 130: by J (last edited Dec 16, 2024 08:06AM) (new)

J Austill | 1126 comments Looks like Caliban’s War does have 2023 and eBook as tags.

and The Marvelous Land of Oz does have Currently Reading as a tag (in position 2). 2116 people are currently reading this (maybe due to Wicked?)

message 131: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (jonquilles) | 192 comments Alas, I couldn't finish Dark Flood in time but I added my pages and used the last wild card so we've officially finished the challenge, go team!

message 132: by JennH (last edited Dec 16, 2024 12:03PM) (new)

JennH | 564 comments Thanks for moving Metamorphosis, Nancy!

I didn't get to read much last night, so I added what pages and time I could.

Woohoo, team. We did awesome! Thanks for a fun time. See you at the next readathon!

Great work everyone! We all receive the prize of having some books moved off our TBR.

Not sure if you'll see this Trish but we can add books on Monday that we finished on Sunday.
