i'm trying to remember a book used to read

ignore the "book this topic is about". ive been trying to remember what i think was a book series but honestly it's been so long i'm not even sure of that atp. i probably have a lot of details wrong but basically all i can recall is where there's the mc who meets this old dude and he gives him the ability to turn into a humanoid animal, i think it was a pig, and then he goes on to do that to a bunch others to lead a riot to the government or something. and then we switch perspectives and follow a female mc who at the end eventually kills the first mc. and i believe the setting was something like ancient asia. i so vaguely remember anything that happened and i could be just flat out wrong about it being a book or even existing. if anything mentioned rings even the slightest of a bell please let me know and ill look it up and see if it clicks.
