Flavia returns. With her sidekick, the disgusting, annoying Undine. There were occasional sparks of humor in Mrs. Mullet’s conversation as Flavia works to exonerate her of a local murder. Mostly, this book followed the previous pattern of the neglected Flavia proving herself to be more intelligent than every other adult. The adolescent Flavia is beginning to acknowledge the dysfunctional lacks of her upbringing in a way that removes the humor of previous books.
Possibly, I’m just tired of the repeating themes.
