Author Grady Green is having the worst best day of his life.

Grady calls his wife to share some exciting news as she is driving home. He hears Abby slam on the brakes, get out of the car, then nothing. When he eventually finds her car by the cliff edge the headlights are on, the driver door is open, her phone is still there. . . but his wife has disappeared.

A year later, Grady is still overcome with grief and desperate to know what happened to Abby. He can’t sleep, and he can’t write, so he travels to a tiny Scottish island to try to get his life back on track. Then he sees the impossible – a woman who looks exactly like his missing wife.

Wives think their husbands will change but they don’t.
Husbands think their wives won’t change but they do.

(view spoiler)[ wow, so this little cabin - has this all been staged? Or has he been brought here to bring his mojo back? what's with the hand and book? Are these planted or did he really just find them because he brought his dog?

and the wife stuff. Now that we know the agent is also her - was it godmother? NOW it feels a little more - staged? It feels like maybe his agent knows more than him

I love the music, the sound effects! it really is engrossing! such a fun read so far

but (view spoiler)[ what on earth is going on on this island? It definitely feels like he was sent here - the walk talkies, the weird sightings and not allowing his car. Too many odd things. and now the article.

but the POV from the girl who went missing - if we assume this is his wife, her husband from her POV sounds VERY different from Grady's idea of himself. He says he's nervous around beautiful women but she describes an encounter where he obtained questionable consent before touching her. Who is right?

and WOW! I never thought Grady would steal the story and mildly re-write it! (hide spoiler)]

I'm still shocked he sent that book off. Even though he changed some things, how could he? it seems wild to me for him to steal something someone else wrote. I mean, he's a writer!! He has to see how bad that is!

and I still can't get over how different the two stories are - between the husband and wife. Is he being willfully ignorant or are they talking about different times of their marriage?
or is he purposely making it seem better than it was

and is his wife hiding on this island, messing with him? It definitely seems like the whole island is intent on keeping him there

You are going to love this!! Although I have to say, the audio is absolutely amazing because it has sound effects! it's really ramping up the mystery and the creepy feeling!!

it's so weird to feel like this whole village/town is a conspiracy theory.

Is this guy in a coma or something? is he going to wake up and then write this as a book/story? It's hard to believe the paranoia that the whole island is out to get him but it does feel like the WHOLE island is out to get him!! lol

What is up with them not wanting him to leave?

the author did a great job of really ramping up the suspense here! That moment with the sound under the bed is really creeping me out and the sound effects in the audio is so good! I'm completely hooked and want to know more!! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I knew there was something weird going on! His story didn't match hers so I knew someone wasn't being honest - but for him to have tried to kill her! WOW!

He was our unreliable narrator all along - trying to spin the tale so he seemed like a better person.

I love that they made him write books and make money for the island. I wonder why they killed him anyway - at least, so soon

I hope someone took in his dog. I loved that little one!

I love that all the women gathered around to protect each other. I knew the agent was in on it too! Ha! this one was so good! (hide spoiler)]

My box was delivered yesterday, but I got home at midnight so I didn’t get to start it. I just started to set it up, I like to bookmark every 50 pgs, that’s my goal every time I go to read, at least 50, if I get more then great.) I’m not sure if I will get to read today (Sunday) I have dinner reservations with family and we have to drive an hour. I’m driving so no reading. If I can get my granddaughter to drive the. I can start reading while she drives. Fingers cross that she volunteered to drive.

I can't, I'd get too motion sick! So I flip to audio books in there!

I'm still waiting on my second box! It got held up in Vegas! lol
