I'd think of steampunk as usually being an alternate Victorian era sort of setting with lots of steam engines and other inventions. This one, however, is post apocalyptic with lots of flying machines though I'm not quite clear if they're steam-powered or what.
The story is told in 2 perspectives, Cass' & Theo's, from opposite walks of life. While she's focused on surviving this horrid world, he with his scientific curiosity, is keen to fix this world. And then their lives collided and the book ended in a bit of a cliffhanger...
It was a somewhat interesting world but maybe I'm running out of steam for the genre after listening to audiobook after audiobook on similar veins because I wasn't too enamoured with the story and got rather impatient so it's just got an average feel/rating from me.
