vivían . | 91 comments fell into a depressive state and haven’t showered in like a week so my hair is super greasy (yes not showering is gross ik but it’s also hard to keep up my hygiene when my mental is bad also i’m on break rn so it’s not like i’m seeing people daily i mainly js stay at home and rot)

how many washes will it take for it to be clean again? like will i need to shower multiple times before it’s bouncy again or do i just have to shampoo like 3x in one wash? also i noticed some dandruff which i haven’t had before - will this also go away? and will my hair smell normally (not like grease) after?

tyy

Ri (anergia) | 176 comments I know what that's like from personal experience. Warning: not a hair stylist or anything, so my advice is based on what you've said & as I said before, personal experience.

Depending on your hair texture, porosity, etc. I'm not sure how your typical hair care routine is. Some people can go "no (sham)poo" or wait between washes. My hair hasn't been dyed and the climate where I live isn't one with four seasons. So, I wash my hair fairly often in a week compared to some people.

My hair washing frequency is about every other day, and I use dry shampoo as needed because it's long, fine, and sebum/oil builds up on my scalp.

When it gets to be greasy/oily during such depressive episodes, I either double shampoo or shampoo once with a bit more than usual. I use Matrix ScalpSync since it has pyrithione zinc for the dandruff. I used to swear by Head & Shoulders, but it strips my hair and makes it so brittle that I don't recommend it.

Then, I use conditioner from roots to ends. The conditioner I use has oil that doesn't weigh my hair down. It's Shiseido Tsubaki Premium in the red bottle. Leaves my hair smooth, shiny (not greasy/oily shiny!), and soft. I first tried it more than 10 yrs. ago lol.

Take your time shampooing and conditioning your hair. Self-care is your 'me' time, the time to relax and try to tend to those things you left by the wayside. I hope you have the resources and support system as well, since that's important other than re-establishing a routine. <3

Cassandra 🍁☕️📚 (blondie2611) | 567 comments I use clarifying shampoo. Make sure to use warm water instead of hot water when rinsing your hair out. Hot water drys out your scalp, which can cause dandruff.

Amina | 13 comments Hiii I hope things get better soon! speaking from personal experience you should shampoo your hair 2/3 times and massage the shampoo really well in your scalp after that use a conditioner to bring back moisture in your hair and your done!

ella | 2650 comments there is dandruff shampoo. one I used to use smelled like butt lol but it helped. and honestly I feel like if you washed it once it would go back to normal but I'm not a professional so idk.

Erica | 4 comments Sorry I have a few questions about hair related stuff as well.
My hair is really frizzy but I don't think its curly i think its wavy does anyone know how to get rid of the friz and make nice waves?
Maybe on a budget...

hii! so I wanna be a hair stylist so I study this stuff

One wash would be fine, but shampoo 2x and really get your scalp to get rid of the buildup
it all goes away after one wash, the dandruff it hard to get rid of but certain shampoos help!!
