Personality: When he’s not being accidentally swayed by other people’s biases, Dakota is naturally very Logical, Calm and Methodical. He’s got a Curious streak which drives him to delve into all sorts of things – from quantum physics to cooking.

His mother encouraged a Creative spark which largely manifests itself in Inventive ways. He’s also very much a Perfectionist - for better or worse - and a diagnosed Obsessive Compulsive. This means Dakota can be very Controlling, especially when it comes to routine.

°•- Backstory -•°


History: Identified early on as an intelligent child. Fast-tracks through standard education earning his first few college degrees by 14. At 16 buys a secluded plot of land, builds "The Observatory", and begins freelancing in any area of work that strikes his fancy. Aids the super-powered community in a multitude of ways (designing tech/adaptable clothing, consulting). Pursues studying superpowers and superpowered individuals although keeps access to his full set of studies largely off limits. He then went to the academy, realizing that he had powers.


How they got their power: He was born with his selkie powers, but the other two he just well...acquired.


Lore: How his powers work- Super genius: Perfect mental recall, Photographic/eidetic memory. Hyperthymesia, Perfect at estimating weight/distance/time/size etc, Excellent special awareness. Dakota doesn’t stub his toe on furniture. High-speed mental calculations. Empath: Simply put, if someone else feels it Dakota feels it. This goes for raw emotions, subconscious feelings, and physical pain. He can read people practically perfectly. Also aided by studying and picking up on micro-gestures. Human Lie Detector. Somewhere between his empathy and supergenius, Dakota can cotton on pretty easily if someone’s lying to him.


LIMITATIONS OF POWERS

Note: As of right now there are no real limitations on Datota’s powers. His supergenius is ever-growing and there doesn’t seem to be a cap on the amount of information he can store. The following are the biggest ‘limits’, loosely speaking…

No real control over his powers. Dakota is pretty much switched on and dialed up to 11 the entire time, even in a sleeping state. He can’t help but take in perfect details of everything, including peoples emotions. His functionality suffers greatly when in the company of large groups.

Empathy gets weaker with distance (he lives in the middle of nowhere for that very reason), but even then it depends on the strength of the emotion. Eg; someone who’s bored isn’t going to be nearly as “loud” as someone who’s in excruciating pain.

Empathy is diluted through non-direct routes such as watching someone on a screen, talking on the phone, or communicating via text/email. Dakota can very acutely decode nuances in peoples body language, typing, or speaking patterns, however, so even then he's not entirely disconnected from his empathy (despite not being in the persons physical space). This links back to the fact his powers are switched on and dialed up to 11 24/7.

SIDE EFFECTS OF POWERS:

Crippling Introversion: IN CASE IT WASN’T OBVIOUS. Dakota’s empathy is heightened to such a degree that it’s honestly safer for him to remain alone if he can. He’s the definition of a hermit, and that’s definitely wouldn’t be such an issue without his super-charged brain.

Pretty much unable to lie to other people: Again, to do with his empathy (PROBLEM POWER MUCH?? >:I) Dakota finds it difficult to tell bare-faced lies to people – especially those who are actively seeking out the truth. That being said, there are work-arounds (telling half truths, wording things to be intentionally mis-interpreted, telling the complete truth but in a language the person can’t understand… : D)

Drugs and alcohol don’t effect him normally: Dakota’s body over-compensates for any inhibitors in his system. Although he may get a quicker bout of fatigue from fighting off the effects of inebriation, he’s not going to actually get drunk in the conventional sense. (He can, however, be effected by such substances by proxy. If he’s with a drunk person, he’ll pick up on the drunkenness.)

Synaesthesia (including Mirror-touch synesthesia!!): Although this side-effect actually aids Dakota with his mental recall, it also leads to over-stimulation

His body can register exactly what it needs at any given time (such as if he’s low on iron, calcium, sugar…) and Brad gets uncomfortable until he resolves that.

Related: Brad calorie counts to a ridiculously fine degree. He instinctually knows how many calories he needs to retain a perfectly healthy body and will abide by that rigidly.

Personality: Spirit is a rather calm individual, he doesn't get mad frequently and when he does he's often rather passive-aggressive about it. Though some may argue that he's simply a pushover or a people pleaser. < -- not entirely unfounded but Spirit refuses to acknowledge it- Additionally they're a decent listener, for the most part. While his memory isn't the best and his attention span is rather-- unpredictable he'd do his best to make sure his friends know that he cares about them whether it be in more subtle ways or not. He always tries to be there for his friends and tries his best not to feel envious or at least not to display that he's envious of their situations. Spirit is the definition of Chaotic-neutral Most of their decisions will be based on how interesting they view the outcome, not always the most chaotic but rather simply which is the most fun. History: (view spoiler)[Spirit wasn't born in the most fortunate of circumstances his family split pretty quickly after his birth and he wound up with his 'angelic' mother. Spirit however is a chaotic mess of well.. everything his existence itself is rather unfortunate as it's both highly frowned upon and his being both a shapeshifter rather than a normal shifter and an elemental makes him extremely dangerous. most rather not interact with him at all. To combat this, he hid his shifter and elemental abilities for a time but was still only met with rejection and neglect. After all even if he were to not use his given abilities he's still different from what they believe he should be. His own parent was rather controlling while at the same time leaving him to fend for himself, so long as he never tarnished her reputation she didn't care about his wellbeing. However, she must know everything about his life. yet she was not present for any of it and when she was present it only ever made his life worse. In short he... didn't have the best home life When Spirit was still a child the truth came out and he was soon taken away by the higher-ups. His mother spun a tale but he hardly cared about what weird and wonderful story she came up with. He claims to not remember much about what happened afterward and while it's half true- it's not up to him when he remembers. That half extends into his childhood as well, if it were up to him He'd prefer it if he could just forget everything entirely. The higher-ups stripped Spirit of his identity and sense of self. At least what little he had, While he was rather independent his own needs came after his friends or parents. But now his independence was also taken, Leaving him with nothing. No home to go back to, no friends to speak of, and no idea who he, himself was. While spirit isn't.. the smartest he isn't dumb either and with his, creative nature he was able to get out of the higher-ups control. They fully believed him to be loyal and he was granted a small amount of freedom, he used this trust to his advantage Eventually allowing him to escape completely. How you may ask? He was essentially harmless. He was never confirmed an elemental so for all everyone else knew he was just an unfortunate mix of all 3 species. His most dangerous aspect is his multiple forms. Regardless other than this he was pretty unremarkable. He'd never attack anyone while in a ring only defending himself and evading. Because of this, the higher-ups allowed him to voluntarily exile himself, Soon after the higher-ups lost track of him. he now resides in a patch of woodlands and is on the move pretty frequently He doesn't wish to be found but also is not bound to hiding and will engage in things if he thinks they'd be fun. - This can get him in a bit of trouble but he has a lot of fun escaping capture. History: Callum was born into a very normal household with no special abilities. One day when he was 12, he went into the forest behind his house at dusk. He was unaware of the evil spirits dwelling in the woods, so he stayed out until dark. There he was attacked and kidnapped by a Leshen. He was held captive for two weeks, enduring indescribable pain and torment. He underwent a ritual that made him a Leshen. The ritual was agonizing and the boy was only able to fulfill part of it. The Leshens took him back to the middle of the woods and left him to die of his wounds.
After the ritual, Callum was unaware that it had made him half-beast and uncontrollable. A freak accident led him to be triggered and the monster was unleashed. In the chaos, his mother died.
Ever since then, he has been terrified to grow close to anyone. He has severe PTSD and anxiety so he requires activities that keep him calm. He went to the academy to learn how to control his powers, except he was restricted to only a few classrooms as many teachers and admins feared his lack of knowledge and control would pose a threat to the other students

Personality: Akina is as sarcastic and sassy as they come. She hates being forced into stupid conversations with people she doesn't like (which is practically everyone) and tends to be rude to anyone she meets. On bad days she'll insult anyone who accidentally annoys her or gets in her way, and Akina is VERY easily annoyed or irritated. She snaps and lashes out when she's angry, or sad, or feeling hurt, and acts defensive a lot, like everyone has offended her somehow.
Mostly, she's just angry about being a ghost and takes it out on other people.
That being said, there is a line Akina won't cross, and that is insulting people when they fail or about certain insecurities since that's what her parents did and she refuses to be like them.
Akina also hates bullies and will occasionally defend someone from them in a fight, although afterwards she will speed walk away and pretend nothing happened. Lastly, Akina has a small soft spot for kids and animals, but only cats, dogs, frogs, or fish.

History: Akina is dead.
She was murdered at the age of fifteen by her parents, although technically it was an accident.
She was fighting with her father and mother on day and the argument got very heated. There was yelling and shoving and everything was a hot mess when suddenly her father pushed her too hard and Akina fell against a nearby table corner. It was wooden and sharp and sliced her skin all the way across her face. She died from shock and head trauma, as the blow was fairly hard.
Akina is absolutely furious about the way she died. It's an extremely touchy subject, so bringing it up is not advised.
What makes her even madder is the fact that her parents, out of fear of being arrested for second degree murder, buried her body in the backyard of their home under a sakura tree.
For some time, Akina just haunted them to make them pay and feel guilty, but after a while she got bored and decided to move in with her grandmother, the only person in her family who actually loved her.
Akina's grandmother was shocked at first, but quickly adapted to having a ghost for a granddaughter. Whenever asked, Akina would refuse to tell her grandmother how she died, but maybe one day she'll break down and confess.
