The Blade Itself If you haven't yet undertaken. Joe Abercrombie is the king of fantasy for the modern day writer. His books are long but breathtaking. Not as long as Sanderson or Martin. But doesn't need to be. Not convinced? Read my review and see what I think about it in more detail!

Without knowing what you typically read I will just throw some randoms out there:

The Emperor's Soul Is a short story fantasy written by Brandon Sanderson. If you haven't checked out the author before I think this one is easily one of his best. Basically a story about a woman who can make forgeries of items and is given the impossible task of forging a person.

The Demon King Is a kind of classic fantasy written for a YA audience. Dual POV with some romantic moments. Really hard to describe the plot in a short synopsis. Worth the read if you like semi-long series (I think 4 in the main one.), love triangles (lol), and deeper fantasy settings.

Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries One of my personal favorites. The story of a scholarly woman out there looking for faeries. Some people list this as a cozy read, but it totally has some unsettling dark fairy-tale imagery at times.
