I was too late for the Waterstone's version but I got the Broken Binding one. If I can get the Waterstones for a decent price on re-sale at some point in the future I will definitely pick it up. I listened though, there is no way I could have finished over the weekend if I had to read the physical copy!

Ann-Marie | 5565 comments @Silvana - I agree about Vigga, (view spoiler)

About Baltahzar (view spoiler)

Which repetition were you guys having trouble with?... (view spoiler)

Ann-Marie | 5565 comments I didn't find it repetitive, I thought it was clever how the parts were separated (view spoiler)

I haven't minded either... 77% now... Curious what book 2-3 look like...

Always jarred by that bank or whatever that sounds similar to Valintz and Balk from First Law tho...

Went back and read page 1 spoilers and got answers to my questions...

Reddit thread says yearly releases based on Polish publisher info about getting access to English copies to translate the next 2 years...

Ann-Marie | 5565 comments That makes sense, doesn't he write the trilogy then works on editing as they are released so he avoids being a stupid, terrible, awful person and makes people wait ridiculously long times for new releases?

That and/or likes being able to better weave developments and foreshadowing across entire trilogies...

That makes sense too, whatever the reason I support it <3

My annoyance is the repetitive dialogue - there are so many lines that are used over and over.. It's something that annoyed me with The Blade Itself and it's why I haven't read much Abercrombie since.

Finished :) I'll probably be in the minority here, but this one was an exhausting read.

An interesting premise and some good actions scenes, but the humour killed it for me. There were only a couple of jokes that I thought landed, and the rest I thought were pretty cheap laughs - maybe I just have a terrible sense of humor, though. If there were more of a balance between the comedy and character development, I think I would have been more invested in the story, but I was emotionally checked out by the time Part 3 started.

There are definitely focal devils and peripheral devils... I probably missed a bunch, listening at work...

Nirkatze | 21250 comments I started yesterday on the plane and am enjoying so far. I'm a bit more than halfway through Part II but only commenting on my notes from Part I here. I saw this review by Daniel Greene before reading, and pretty much agree with a lot of what he's said--(view spoiler)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments I started over the weekend and read a few chapters....

This feels like Abercrombie, but also has what feels like a Discworld seasoning thrown in...

Nirkatze | 21250 comments Hah! that would be great! I can see this being pretty fun onscreen, with the right cast.

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) | 5115 comments Popping in to say I LOVED this. Makes me want to reread all of Abercrombie again!
