i think i finally figured out why the answer to this riddle is two.

what if jameson was talking about a love triangle? (in this case, avery, jameson and grayson)? if avery says 𝒚𝒆𝒔 to one person in the relationship (jameson), then she is saying 𝒏𝒐 to the other person in the relationship (grayson). then, since she said yes to jameson 𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆, that left grayson thinking that a relationship could 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 work out between them.

in the end, there were 𝑻𝑾𝑶 people left in the love triangle.

therefore, the answer to the riddle is two.

Oh I was thinking like yes has three letter but no has two and once has four and never has five. So the two missing letters (I have not finished reading the book yet.)
