Winters in the World: A Journey through the Anglo-Saxon Year by Eleanor Parker
Double headed Anglo-Saxon snake
I don't think this will be hard just because of what snakes represent to people. I already have something on my TBR list Stone Blind. And it was only 2$ Canadian on Kobo for an ebook! I bought it just now, though I am a bit worried about why it was so cheap.

To counteract the AI Prompt: AI Snake Oil: What Artificial Intelligence Can Do, What It Can’t, and How to Tell the Difference <3
What about if there is a picture of a character in the book on the cover - and that character is a "snake" in the book????
I'm reading Ann Patchett's State of Wonder right now for another challenge, and some editions have snakes on the cover!

If you feel like it counts, then it counts
If you feel like it counts, then it counts
I'm going to be reading Sister Snake by Amanda Lee Koe for this prompt. Snake in the title AND on the cover.

I like how we're reading through the Chinese zodiac. Gives me fond memories of Fruits Basket, which was my reintroduction to anime. Also, I like snakes, so yay!
Excited for this prompt.
Sunrise on the Reaping
Being released in March. Already got it pre-ordered. Can't wait for this new Hunger Games book!
I think I'll go with Sunrise on the Reaping, too, but I can't afford to pre-order. I have two others that I might go with, too.
Some editions of the Wheel of Time have the Great Serpent on the cover, which is a snake in a figure eight biting its tail.New Spring
The Eye of the World
The Great Hunt
The Dragon Reborn
The Shadow Rising
The Fires of Heaven
Lord of Chaos
A Crown of Swords
The Path of Daggers
Winter's Heart
Crossroads of Twilight
Knife of Dreams
The Gathering Storm
Towers of Midnight
A Memory of Light

What? We get Haymitch's story?!? I am IN!
Guess this prompt is filled!
Dea wrote:What? We get Haymitch's story?!? I am IN!
OMG, yeah, you didn't know?!
I am so stoked for Sunrise. For years Haymitch has been fanfic, but to get an actually book about his games is gonna be the best thing ever.

OMG you're right, hadn't even thought of those books! I'm working my way through book 1, just starting chapter 2. So I might add book 2 later.
Maybe Galápagos or Hannibal unless I find a book on my physical shelves that happens to have a snake

I'm very much not in my fiction era, but my memoir/nonfiction era, so as a proud Australian I'm going to hunt for a book about Aussie snakes. Came across a brown whilst walking, got lovely photos at the zoo, so it would be really nice to learn about them - in particular those found in my locality!Any reptile lovers in snake countries can tick off the prompt by finding a nonfiction at their local library and learn about your native species :D behaviour, diet, distribution, endangered or common etc. Adds to overall conservation conversations.
(Edit - just discovered Venom: The heroic search for Australia's deadliest snake which sounds intriguing! Love the taipans)
I am behind the rest of the world in reading Demon Copperhead, which has been on my TBR since January, so it is my choice. It is also by an author that I enjoy...a plus in trying to fill these prompts where a lot of authors end up being new to me.
I found at my library The Infinite Plan by Isabel Allende, The Once and Future Witches and The Birth of Venus - the last one has a snake on the spine not the front cover. In junior section, I found
, a middle grade novel published ion 2022.
I'm probably going to go with Black Candle Women, The Midnight Lieor maybe I'll finally get around to reading FreshwaterSome books I've read that will work are:
Raiders of the Lost Heart
From Bad to Cursed - I loved this whole series
Ninth House
Kingdom of the Wicked
Lore
The Once and Future Witches
I have two books on my TBR bookshelf that will fit -
Conviction by Denise Mina
My pick for this prompt:
The Last Surgeon by Michael Palmer
HAPPY READING!!!
Just finished Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology and realized there is a snake on the cover. So that's this one covered.
Cornerofmadness wrote: "Going with
because I loved the first book Bittersweet in the Hollow"I am reading it right now despite not having read the first one. It's pretty good.
Last week, I checked out the book section at my local Walmart and found a few covers with snakes on them!
Time is getting closer for Sunrise on the Reaping !I am so stoked for this one. Finally Haymitch is no longer going to be fanfiction and speculation.
I'm reading
by Amanda Lee Koe. I would have loved to own the paperback or hardcover but I'm still digging the ebook.
I was going to read the new Hunger Games book, but I just started The Neverending Story.
There are two snakes on it, holding the title of the book.Edit: In an odd twist, the next book I started also had a snake on the cover that I didn't notice until looking at it: Inkspell by Cornelia Funke.

I love Haymitch. I thought Woody Allen did such a good portrayal of him in the movies. I also can't wait to read it.

Yeah I liked him too. I'm very curious as to who they'll get for a young Haymitch for the new movie.
Less than a week to go!

2025 is the Year of the Snake so I think we all expected this. I have no idea what I'll read for this, though.
