No, as long as there are stars visible it's okay. We're not being quite as strict as Dark Sky International on light levels!

That looks more like a view of space, which isn't quite what we're after here, sorry!

Yes, that works. Not sure if I'm looking at stars or snow in the sky, but it's clearly dark out, so thumbs up.

I was wondering if this would work. To me it looks like the moon and stars outside the window.

Thanks.

I agree, that looks like a moon in a night sky to me. Approved.

Yep, I'd say so. Approved."
That was quick thanks!!

I'm online frantically trying to get the Readerboard done before Storm Darragh hits and potentially knocks out my power, so quick to pick things up right now! :P

Stay safe, Jayne! I'll be thinking of you and yours.

Well now I can't do the "that's no moon" Star Wars joke!
But yes, that cover absolutely works. Stars and moon clearly visible.

Going to say yes that on that one. I think it's a clear enough reflection of a moon.

Defying Logic
I've got other possible places to put it, so I'll suvive either way it goes.
Thanks!

Approved; that's definitely an urban night sky

Excellent - thanks!

Sorry, I'm going to have to say no on those. With Alias Emma's cover the blue filter makes it impossible to tell either way, and First Degree looks to be more like dusk.

Robin P wrote: "What about this one?
- not sure it's night, because it's outer space, and I think it is just one star, what do you think?"
I think this is the same situation as Jen B had - unfortunately it's a view from space, which isn't quite what we're after, sorry!

Thanks, not a problem as I have another place for that one.

I think it is? It's not the clearest, but then I also can't think of anything else it could really be interpreted as, so sure, I'll approve it!

The Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs, in addition to being an AONB, also has the distinction of being a Dark Sky Reserve: a region in which restrictions on light pollution are in place to protect naturally dark night skies and promote astronomy, and to limit harm to nocturnal wildlife from artificial light.
