helm and chae are actually really similar, kind but headstrong and stubborn. helm will tell the truth but he's typically a little more sensitive about it, being direct but not really being rude.
so, it seems kind of like the dynamics between helm and kavan and then chae and kavan would be similar?

Helm is a good friend of Chae’s, someone who she finds to be a kindred spirit. They are rather similar people in mannerism and she enjoys being around him, but they do have one distinct difference that causes strife at times—their opinions on magic. She pushes him to open up and realize that it’s not as bad as he makes it out to be; he pushes her to stop relying so heavily on it and to leave him alone about his own lack of magic use. They care for one another, of course, but this one differing standpoint can cause some harsh words and tension all the same.

Another good friend of hers, Kavan has always been someone Chae could rely on. What moments of awkwardness he has are made up for by Chae’s gentle demeanor and ability to notice body language and react accordingly. She trusts him with anything and her stark bluntness is very much on the back burner when she’s around him, as his presence soothes her and makes it harder for her to voice harsher opinions and words. He’s usually all that stops her from arguing with Helm over magic as well.

I think so! But I do have to ask--how did they all meet? simply because Kavan is wary of people given his inability to make friends very well haha

That's how I see Kavan, the glue 😂 He's the unproblematic king. And hmm, Chae could make friends with a brick wall, so it's truly up to you where they literally met, but she would understand having grown up with a lot of empathy all around her. It could be over the course of their teen years at Cogworks? Or maybe they hung out after school while Chae did mechanic work sometimes? Helm's also a smithing apprentice if I remember so maybe around that area of Voxthain? The dance studio can be nearby as well?
it could be really good storywise if maybe kavan and chae became friends around their school years and then chae and helm became friends in a way surrounding work and then chae introduces kavan to helm
I’m good with that! He could somehow have met her at cogsworks and then he’d love to sit there while she worked at the mechanic shop or wherever she goes, and he’d invite her to all his dance productions <3 but it would have taken Kavan time to trust Chae because he’d be afraid she really thinks he’s bothersome when he just starts talking about random stuff. And yeah it could maybe work?

That's why I really like the meeting at school thing because that would be them knowing each other for quite a while so that trust could build in their teen years and not just be off the bat.

i did not mean to write more for kavan but okay-)
kavan first impression; kavan was quiet, that much helm did notice. and, really, while he prides himself on his perceptivity, helm finds it too often than not that he simply doesn't notice things about people he doesn't expect to meet more than once. but they did meet more than once, because the first time he met kavan, it was a brief meeting, just the same time helm first met chae. then helm became friends with chae, and she formally introduced the two of them, and helm noticed more. nothing he could place his finger on, but certainly more.
current status; the more helm got to know about kavan, the more he noticed. he was talented and interesting, and listening was always something helm enjoyed, so he listened. a lot. helm would say that a majority of their friendship is his listening and kavan's talking, and he likes that. he'd also say that kavan is a big part of the reason helm and chae don't get into worse or more fights than they already do, and he'd have to give him credit for that.
chae first impression; at first glance, chae seemed almost fiery. she was bubbly but not overly so, having a confidence that helm didn't see in everyone. he'd seen some of her work, had already admired her if just basing her off of that, but she herself deserved far more recognition.
current status; as much as he enjoys their friendship, it'd be a lie to say helm and chae always get along. they're a lot alike in many ways, and helm finds that she's a good person, though with the both of them being as stubborn as they are, it's no wonder they butt heads as often as they do.
I think that works! And Kavan would try and make conversation if he realized Chae trusted and was friends with Helm! He would just be afraid of being judged or something, that said he would also love to hear about helm’s interests too when he can/when they get closer

hey everyone! i’m finally, finally going through my character’s relationships and i was wondering what lala’s relationship would be like with all other 6 councillors (+ europa) and her entire family (just all the delacroixs, not really calicos)! if anyone has any ideas, let me know <3
I think we have Sapphira figured out on this but for Andre Delacroix, he's like an old man wizard. I've discovered he's like a weird dude who tries to remove all the stress of the noble family, especially for Elliot now Draven. He tried his best to be an escape from reality for the kids when they grew up in the strict noble house with stories and fun and what not. He's also the type to call you 'kiddo' if you were a kid he helped no matter the age XD
I have Venus and Evelyn! Do you have anything in mind?

i really can't see lala having any sort of positive relationship with europa. europa would mess with her so hard and be so openly catty and rude, not blinking at anything lala would throw back. she would also try to dig into all delacroix drama to see what she could get out of lala

Caledonia would not trust Lala. I think we've been over this, but to recap, Cal doesn't trust most nobles. She trusts Lucien less, but she sees Lala as cruel and manipulative and is wary of her and everything her family stands for. Maybe one day she'll realize it's a mask or whatever, but at the moment she really has no sympathy or trust for Lala given she's a noble-born Delacroix of all people, and believes the woman to be out for herself and her own interests. She avoids her as much as she can and probably needles her in meetings.
Cal cares about the people way more than nobles, and so if there was something Lala was doing that benefited the nobles over the people, Cal would never hesitate to refute her and stand in her way, as well as shoot down the nobles at every turn.

yeah, sapphira is figured out, but for andre i think lala would have really liked him as a child but when she got older she grew bored of him and thought of him as childish (because she would)

evelyn: i honestly have no clue here because you mentioned that evelyn also has a nice side underneath her mask, but lala is exactly what she ‘trained’ lala to be even though lala is basically a younger version of evelyn herself… she definitely has the most positive relationship with her parents compared to her sisters, but how positive is the question. lala is someone who will not openly show anything or any emotion lest it be used against her so perhaps she loves her parents and her parents know this and love her back, but she cannot express it very well? idk

jingyi: i think we previously discussed that jingyi is afraid of lala and they don’t tend to interact,, but would lala more expose this vulnerability or just let it be? i think since he’s neutral in the lala vs lucien war, she would likely let it be. what do you think?

i totally agree. lala would definitely flat out ignore cal and all her comments and she sees cal as a pain in her neck, but she would sometimes try to argue back - especially on the front of nobles

oh my god the way i forgot jingyi exists. so sorry king! yeah, he definitely steers clear of jingyi. if she wants to toy with him about it, i think that could be fun, but if you think she would just ignore his existence, that works too. i might have to have someone give him a stern talking to at some point so that he gets more involved in the council

Venus isn't the type of person to hold grudges or be angry at someone (she can, but it's very rare) and some of the other councilors probably don't like her because of that since they view here as being too nice. She does her best to get along with everyone, but maybe by working with Lucien she hurt Lala without meaning to? As for Evelyn, yeah, they're pretty similar in terms of both of them using a mask. But because she didn't want to be seen as weak I guess you could say, she taught Lala to be the same way, if that makes sense?

she may toy with him later on, but for now, as she’s ‘relatively’ new on the council, she’d just let things be i think

for athena, i think they were both close growing up, and then with things being the way they are, their relationship might be a bit strained now, but they do both still love each other. I know athena for one will be trying to keep their bond, so that kinda depends on lala.
for elliot, i think maybe they were close once, but then elliot kinda started distancing himself from the rest of the family even before he got disowned
lala wants to, and she does love athena, but she is desperately trying to keep up her mask and athena is well… athena
perhaps if athena understood then they could still be pretty close? (we should ask for letters between them :D)
