they're grown and emotionally dysfunctional so like not a very uhm passionate or wild romance ykwim, i have mara who is very heavily inspired off of dr. temperance 'bones' brennan, a forensic anthropologist, and the dude is my icon seeley booth <333 he's an fbi agent and former ranger/military sniper
you need to know basically nothing about them bc haha i'll word vomit everything, but to summarize, in the show they have a working relationship solving murders and homicides when there isn't anything left but bones, and have a very gradual coworkers to friends to lovers slowburn, and also have very different personalities (think high eq vs high iq) which often clash, but more often compliment each other and help them solve cases.
in lux, mara is working on cracking the case of all these fucking dead bodies (cough bodhi cough emilie) and booth-adjacent (who might be a militia soldier turned investigator for example) would likely be assisting her and working the more law enforcement side while she does more of the research and labwork side of it.

Hi! So I know you put out a request to discuss Joaquin’s relationships with the rest of his family and I have been not on top of collabs as I should be, so, I am sorry this is belated!
I have Xavier Amaranth, the middle brother of one of the groups of siblings. He’s early 20s I believe, very morally upright and dislikes the classism of Voxthain but he takes one for the team and stays involved in politics so his cousins don’t have to. He loves his family and is so loyal and has a strong sense of justice.
Also, I see you have the blacklight sword for arachniad! So. Something I had talked with the mods about before—as part of one of my characters’ backstories, Katniss Winters, she is an Arachniad Spider who killed the previous Blacklight for Arachniad when she was maybe 16? I wrote a log about it so I think that may end up determining when your guy became the sword? If this works for you? She is a problem and the previous sword had pretended to date her to kill her but she ended up ending him instead

@ElizabethSo Lawrence can be arrogant and manipulative and just basically goes along with whatever the family does, even f he doesn't necessarily agree with them sometimes. I'm not sure about Tamrion, but Isabella, Bella, and I agreed that they would probably try to avoid him as much as possible since their cousin bullied Melody.
OH. Okay right his daughter is the cousin. Okay yeah so Tamrion does love Melody as well, and so I think he’d not like Lawrence and be very rude and biting to him and sees him as a lesser Seavey
Yeah, that would make sense. Lawrence would probably just avoid Tamrion as much as he could because of that.

I think overall Joaquín would really respect Xavier! He also is a strong advocate for justice and hates classism, so they have that in common. He's not very diplomatic though and just says whatever he thinks. Definitely not cut out for politics lol. I think he would be really glad that Xavier is capable of handling the politics, so I can see Xavier being one of the few family members that Joaquín might actually listen to. He does love all his family members, but he hates being told what to do. I think Xavier is probably one of the few exceptions where he would tolerate being asked to do or to not do things within reason.
Okay yeah, that definitely works for me with the blacklight sword. I was think about naming him Oswald (Ozzy for short), but I'm not sure if I like that name for him or not yet. So if Katniss killed his predecessor when she was around 16 that would be about 6 years ago?
I barely have a concept for this character. Why am I suddenly tempted to make him turn evil help.
In any case, since Katniss is a problem, I'm assuming he might have tried (and failed obviously) to kill her in the past? Or maybe he's just too intimidated or scared of being killed like his predecessor so he hasn't even tried to confront her?

oh hey I like that!! I think its a great idea, and I think Xavier truly would get along with Joaquin so well in this case. They have so much in common with hating injustice, and I think he respects and loves his cousin (cousin, right?) very much, and just truly worries about him more than anything. he'd never be condescending, just very worried given this is his family
I think so!! katniss is 23 now, and I want to say she killed him at 16. I could also be so very wrong lmao about my remembering what age I had her do that at oops. and I like the name Ozzy that is so fun! also truly I can change who she killed if it does not work, I wanted to just touch base about it!

Aw yay, I love that they have such a wholesome relationship! And yes, I believe they are cousins. If I'm interpreting their family tree correctly, they are second cousins since Joaquín's parents were cousins of Rafael.
A lot of the worrying is probably really fair/warranted given that several of Joaquín's hobbies are risky activities. Lots of things can go wrong spelunking and cave diving. I feel slightly bad for any of his family members that are prone to worrying. He probably checks in with Xavier and all their other cousins frequently though. Since his parents are gone and he has no siblings, Xavier and the rest are his closest living relatives.

I really like that she killed the old sword. It's actually super helpful because I wasn't sure what to do with his backstory, and now I feel like I have something to build on with his predecessor getting murdered.
I'm seriously considering it XD I'm not sure if I'm going to have him start out evil or if I'm going to give him a negative character arc through rp. I kinda think having him turn evil over time makes more sense though. I doubt the blacklights would knowingly make him the sword if he was some psycho lol.
I also thought I might make him a sibling who is a gang member because a) somehow I don't have any gang members? and b) I like the extra drama.
Okay glad that all made sense! And yeah once I get him more developed, we can figure out what we want to do with them.

Me too! Good relationships with healthy check ins and communication is so important for family so for the cousins to be close is so nice, and the fact he checks in with Xavier and the others is great. I think Xavier in turns checks in with Joaquín as well given he probably knows what his cousin does for activities haha.

Oh awesome!! Okay cool because I had come up with that awhile ago and truly if it didn’t work I can always rearrange, but I am glad to know it does! Truly sometimes it can be so hard for backstories, some characters come easier than others by a long shot. You’ll absolutely get it. Your characters and profiles are always so detailed it’s wonderful!

Yes, I think I am going to make him a little sibling who's in the Spiders gang. Maybe his sibling for some reason really likes or looks up to Katniss and Cress so now Ozzy can't try and kill Katniss without being buried alive in guilt oof.

hey so i have a character i put on the backburner a while ago, and i was going back to make her since i got inspired (wahoo!), and basically the idea is that she kind of has no access to her magic, she can't use it or control it, but on the other hand she has like op (well not op but ykwim) physical abilities, very strong, fast, etc, and works as kind of a freelance....whatever, like think toji fushiguro (jujutsu kaisen) x rose wilson/ravager (dc)
now what i was thinking is that she might be from like one of the hoity toity noble families (calico, seavey, delacroix etc) but disowned because out of like embarrassment maybe at her lack of abilities. her mother would most probably the noble one, as i was planning to have her grow up with her dad training her, and being a bastard child with like a mercenary might be a contributing factor to the disowning part, but i'm not really sure if i can think of any character who would even do that. anyway, this is just an idea i'm throwing out and i'd really appreciate any advice or feedback anyone had!! <33
alright, so as for her family, idk whether the delacroixs would work, but it's def a possibility. she could always be from like a different branch of the family. who knows, maybe Oliver and Ezekiel has another sibling, or maybe more distantly related. let me know if you have any thoughts on that.
as for her being a mercenary... idk how this would work, but I've got a vigilante character, and I love the thought of them somehow working together at some point and hating each other. XD like, maybe she sees them as self-righteous, and they see her as lacking morals, due to killing for money, idk. just a thought.
absolutely, so for the delacroix, i'll poke around the family tree a bit to see if she can fit in there, and then if i hear from any of the families then that too
but yeah so, the vigilante character is uhm, wait which character are you talking about again sorry 😭🥀 but yes she's like 100% money is money morals are for people who can afford them, especially if your character comes from a comfortable background she'd be a bit of a bully, i don't know if she'd 'hate' them so to say, but definitely wouldn't be impressed

I have some of Isley's relationships done, but not all. I don't think we've discussed her and Elara, Aiden, or Artemisia. So in no particular order, here's some of what I was thinking, but I'm open to anything.
Elara - I had Isley as more of a daddy's girl, so I'm assuming she was closer with Eadric than Elara growing up. However, ever since finding out that Alex isn't really her twin, that's complicated her relationship with Eadric, and even though she hasn't really tried to untangle how she feels about all that, I'm thinking she's probably more inclined to be closer with Elara at this point in time.
Also Isley loves fashion and coming up with new styles, so I was thinking maybe she learned how to crochet or embroider or something from Elara?
Artemisia - I think Izzy would like her! I don't know how close they would be since Artemisia seems more reclusive than the other siblings, but Izzy loves wandering around Voxthain or just doing whatever. She'd invite Artemisia to go with from time to time, I bet. If Artemisia was willing, Izzy would love to do her hair too.
Izzy probably isn't someone she could have deep, academic convos with though, but she's a good listener.
Aiden - He's the one that stumped me, actually. Izzy loves all her siblings regardless, but I'm not sure I had any concrete ideas about them. I'm also just super worn out, so brain fog is setting in. I might have to come back to him tomorrow.
I was going to do the Devoes too because I made a character and then promptly disappeared and came back and there were all these other Devoes lol. But I'm about to crash, so I'll save it for tomorrow.

Finished Joaquín! I couldn't remember if we decided that he and Alex were also going to be friends or not, so I just threw that into his backstory but I can change it if needed. If I got any details wrong about him and Teddy, lmk and I'll fix it :)
