jingyi would be overjoyed to have people on the council who have similar goals as him. he's very community-driven, so he would be excited to have people like venus who are interested in helping the people, leaving the nobility to actually run the city

okay that could work. So they’d work together in a group setting to help the people and such? Yeah she’s not going to trust him outright and won’t meet with him alone unless it’s outside in a public place. And she and her mother did have similar politics but they are also different people. Cal had more of a temper and hates nobles more lol so there’s some difference but that makes sense if he’s been on council for so long

being a delacroix, he would avoid her like the plague. the delacroixs are scary, and lala is the definition of a delacroix. she can do whatever she wants as long as it doesn't include him. he's a bit of a coward, so maybe he should use his power for good but nah he doesn't want to have any power and he certainly doesn't want to stand in her way

i built him to be a pretty terrible politician so he'd just see each family as [family name], not really paying enough attention to them to learn the intricacies about each individual person. unless they took the time to visit the tinkerer's guild and invest in that, he would just be like "yup, another hayden/wyver/delacroix elected" and not look into it even a smidge further. which im sure cal would not like, and fair of her. he's kind and cares deeply about his people, but he doesn't really consider the nobility or anyone not from his neighborhood to be "his people." he's not taking the time to get to know cal unless she takes the time first, otherwise they're just coworkers who both care to help the city

Agreed! Venus would respect Jingyi because of that. Her mother was a councilor, so she wants to follow in her footsteps and cared for the people like she does.

he would see lucien as a politician and be like nope not touching that with a ten foot pole. another wyver, another noble grasping at power without taking the time to actually meet or know the people. he'd probably see lucien and lala as very similar people, which im sure they'd both Hate if they knew

ooh no that's a very fun dynamic actually! and that works, because that is absolutely something she loathes, when people ignore the fact she;s genuinely not just a noble, given she was not born into it and that they've done her a lot of damage. she would probably be furious, but that said, her mother also never followed along with the delacroixs, she was always more oriented towards the people as well, given she's not classist and understood more of the people after befriending selene and adopting her children, but yeah, cal would be very angry because she feels like the nobles only see her as a commoner and the citizens always see her as simply a noble when neither of those are accurate. she focuses on protecting women, children, and the homeless as best she can and started shelters for all three over the city, but beyond that she doesnt get involved in the noble politics unless she has to. maybe she'd visit him one day when theres people all over to try and speak to him but who knows

another commoner! jingyi would have probably campaigned for her in whatever capacity he could as someone terrible at politics. he's starting to get older and the council is typically made up of young people, so he's starting to look for someone to take over his place as the common-born on the council. he might take her under his wing to help her survive the council life. he'd see her as a child, thinking of her similar to how he views his own daughter, wanting to help make the transition to councilor easy for her before the vultures can swoop in and push her out like they did to him when he was new

it feels very true to jingyi to have only a superficial opinion on each of them. he doesn't care enough about lucien to see him as more than what he presents himself to be on the surface unless lucien either 1. care about the tinkerers or 2. makes himself a problem for jingyi personally

I like the idea of him campaigning for her as he saw her as a fitting replacement. in her history, there isn't anything about her campaigning herself, just spending her time with the people like she always had so if you like that then it'd work perfectly.
as for helping her survive council life, I see where you coming for but right now in RP she's a bit more fish out of water and on her own. maybe at first he helped her out and then thought she was good when she really wasn't, just a miscommunication? since now she's found Cal as a partner and a bit of mentor and either Lucien or Lala will become a close friend and emotional support after her dad is murdered. if you have a better idea though let me know because abandoning her out of the blue doesn't seem like a thing he'd do.

i actually kind of love the idea of the two of them interacting. because cal feels so strongly that she isn't noble but from jingyi's pov she has grown up with wealth and is currently wealthy, living in an actual mansion. he doesn't know what she's gone through, so it looks like she's had everything she's ever wanted handed to her, even following in a line of hayden militia members and councilors. i wonder if talking to him, someone who is truly a commoner and doesn't have any reason to like her (like selene) and is very difficult to anger would change her perspective on it all at all. even if she yelled or threw around hurtful words at him, he would remain calm and try to help her see things from his pov

maybe the miscommunication is bigger and sillier than that. maybe she doesn't know he campaigned for her or thinks any of these things because he forgot to actually... introduce himself and help her in any way. he's been so caught up in his busy life that he forgot to add her into it even if he does view her this way. and then when he finally does remember (or more likely his daughter reminds him), she's already close with cal and lucien/lala. i like the idea of them actually meeting after she has established bonds with some of the more noble born councilors

she could talk to him yeah! And that’s true, from the outside it could seem like that, and truly, she knows that because she does talk to people. Again, she actually makes an effort to help orphans and children and women and homeless because shes been in positions where she understands they need help, and doesn’t want anyone feeling like she did and very vulnerable and with nobody to turn to, and I think she doesn’t know from the outside it seems like she had everything given to her, but she’s sick of nobody realizing that she’s not fully a noble and never would be. She’s known to never have backed them anyway so idk

I like that! I did say in her history that she just somehow became a councillor XD so this kinda fits it perfectly. A massive miscommunication sounds like a great idea in my opinion. If he was too busy and his old mind forgot she was his responsibility, then that would make what's happening in the RP with Cal not a lie since she's clueless in that.
If he forgot then they'd probably meet for the first time when he gives condolences after her fathers death? Maybe he'll have a massive realization moment?

Age gaps are fine with me with fully developed and consenting adults that are past 25, but she's 20. To be careful and respectful of maturity gaps too, I can age her up up to 27 or 28. A four or five years age gap there isn't as fine a line because they're both full adults with life experience by then. She has one collab and that's a friend so her age is fully adjustable. I'd really like this collab for her, but just want to be sure the maturity gap isn't being overstepped even if they are technically both adults. Does that work? 🧡

okay cool my oops there a bit. shout out to my girl cal, i misunderstood her a bit. sorry for making you repeat that a few times before it got through my thick skull. so it's more like she knows her privilege but doesn't like being seen as a noble because she doesn't feel like one while from jingyi's pov she is noble in every way that matters and shouldn't get caught up in the semantics of it. it's just class to him, and that is the class she is solidly in whether she likes it or not. but it's not as big of a thing as i was thinking initially

no problem! and yeah, like she absolutely knows she lives in a mansion/has food and clothing and privilege! it's just she also knows that she is not a true noble, and hates that people don't recognize that, as well absolutely doesnt feel like one because she has been not treated as such among peers and her own father. she also has definitely been known to never help the nobles in council and to take the peoples' side/fight for their betterment even if its against lucien and lala and such. got it, that makes sense. and no, its not truly, she is part noble and part commoner, so.

it's probably genetic but it kills the patriarch on their 50th birthday without fail. and I got it approved by Rory when I was checking world lore with her so its fine lol.
i mean there's magic in this world so why not curses. it makes it funnier that one family dies young because of a curse and another is inbreeding
