Drace (dracenines) | 7393 comments So back in 2003, well-known horror author Stephen Graham Jones published his second novel, All the Beautiful Sinners. It's a pretty long book (close to 500 pages).

Years later, in 2010, the first ebook and Kindle editions of Sinners were published. This information isn't super easy to find unless you dig for it, since it's kind of an obscure book and the ebooks and Kindle editions are now out of print and unavailable (unless you previously bought one or your local library's ebook program has a copy from a long while back, there's no legal way to read the ebook), but the ebook version is actually an abridged and re-edited version of the original novel, and is Stephen Graham Jones' preferred version. Here's an article on SGJ's personal website about the book to back that up. CTRL+F and search "Not long after it was published" to find the relevant paragraphs: https://www.demontheory.net/all-the-b...

As such, is there some sort of note that should be put in the digital editions of the books that the ebooks are abridged but the version that the author likes best? Should that go in the Editions field or the librarian note field or the description?

Renske | 12220 comments The description is the only place for the part that the author prefers a certain version. The part that it is abridged could also be added to the edition field, but that is not very visible these days.
Librarian notes are intended for information that is needed for librarian work.
