OUT OF LUX discussion
wait really? mean, if it works in real life very possibly? And maybe it’s like she has new investigators paired with experienced ones for their first few cases and then when they’re ready they work cases on their own?
technically, it doesn't make much sense for Elliot already be a detective as it is, but I can't really change his age now 😭
yeah, I think it would make sense to have like a transition period where the old investigator is still there with the new one
everyone is too young in this world, so I kinda just didn't think much about it lol. fantasy worlds usually have people doing stuff younger lol
no I no, they do, it just hit me I have no idea when he would have trained, or like, my war casters for that matter, and I know for a fact everyone in the militia had to train. Maybe we do the bootcamp/militia school thing? So it was like, six months of very intense training and then continuous training even after they officially joined. I just know Katarina won’t allow untrained people to join so there has to be training involved, probably rigorous especially if it’s a shorter program
✧Bella✧ wrote: "but yeah, idk, sorry about that 😭"nah you’re good; I should have thought about this back in November lmao this is my bad
no, yeah, I figured a boot camp thing would be involved. like, the def have to train lol. but, yeah, that works.
so maybe with Elliot, since he's an investigator, he had to work with the last one for a while, and that investigator just retired very recently? or they're still there, who knows lmao
yes! That works for me! And again, yeah, I don’t mind adding another investor claim if that’s what we all agree on :)
Okay cool, and yeah I am so sorry I didn’t think about the training involved until now lmao that is my fault 😭 because truly Elliot as an investigator is great I was just like wait what was the timeline?!
no but fr, the timeline is far too confusing lmao. but, yeah, ok, sounds good. the fact that this started with me working on Adrien's history, but now I've got more info on Elliot's lol
but yeah, if the other investigator retired, I can maybe use them in memory logs lol. or I could make them, but more chars is the last thing I need just now
it is haha. Still I apologize for not thinking this through months ago! And yeah, I don’t mind that at all, use them for memory logs, why not! And yeah idk haha, we can always open up a new claim if mods are down too if we want
alright, so I've got the nova bearer, and I was wondering if there was anything I should know on how these Coven members get their positions? are they chosen by whoever held it first, are they voted in, does it simply go to the most skilled? and can said leaders step down, or so they just hold that position until they die? and i know that several people have had it pass from mother to daughter, but that isn't required, is it?
also, where do i post the descriptions for places when i write them?
hmmmm very good question.... i could see it being a vote, but the previous holder of the position has the power to nominate someone and put her weight behind them, and often the nominee is the one who will hold the position next. leaders can step down, yes, but they can hold the position for as long as they want. it can pass mother to daughter but that is not always the case. it should go to whoever is the most skilled in that magic
you can post the descriptions in topic requests!
So I know there's no money on Lux, but are there any banks? I was thinking about more lore for the Devoes and had the idea of them possibly running the banks (if there are any). Or is that something I should message you guys privately about?
hmmmm very good question. i think yes there could be a vault-style bank situation for storing valuables and family heirlooms you wouldn't want to keep out around the house. definitely a catering to the wealthiest of the wealthy situation
wait question. would the banks/vaults be under calico purview though? since they're in charge of the jewels, precious metals, gems, and valuables? i think they definitely have vaults of valuables and gems and stuff. or are these vaults for people storing general items different?
they manage distribution and have the actual jewels, but they need somewhere to store them so the devoes manage that. if they have vaults, those are personal, this is for the general public. if they want to store a massive pile of family heirlooms that aren't jewels, they can with the devoes. we need to allow other families to have things too
i was actually thinking that the calicos specifically would be really good clients for the devoes and their vaults. they have the precious gems and would need somewhere secure to store their excess wealth, which is where the devoes would come in
Rory wrote: "they manage distribution and have the actual jewels, but they need somewhere to store them so the devoes manage that. if they have vaults, those are personal, this is for the general public. if ..."
oh yeah absolutely, i just wasn't sure what the breakdown was
Yeah, I was thinking more like general items. The Calicos could definitely go to the Devoes if they want their jewels or other items stored too.
so, I've been working on Andre's plot and it doesn't seem right for a wizard to be working with the council. however, I've found a great idea for a new class of magical spells that if mods allow, I'd be interested in exploring with them. and for context, what would be happening in the plot is Andre would be 'discovering' new magic and learning the class as he begins to write about it. am I allowed to expand on this idea?
im very intrigued! The only thing we don’t really want with magic is anything that feels too overpowered or anything related to necromancy so if your idea is not that, let’s hear it! Also second question would you be willing to have others (potentially from not Asterath/voxthain but also maybe yes) having some of these powers if they’re fully implemented in the group? We can discuss what that would look like
well, my idea is that while Andre attempts to study, failing, and his frustration leads to a burst of the new magic. Then his plotline is drawn into the magic as he studies it secretly until he reveals the powers to the world.
Absolutely not necromancy, I know you guys has already not like that. I went slightly overboard earlier and kinda drafted it in the Lux format so I'll PM that to you!
hey, i'd like to do a log for nahri, which will openly deal with sexual assault to a minor, and while i'm planning on describing it in explicit as i personally am not comfortable with righting that, it's still going to be there and obvious, and i just wanted to know if that was at all possible, of course i will use appropriate trigger warnings and spoilers, and it's a very vital part of her backstory and her trauma that i very briefly touched in her history, but at the same time it makes total sense to me if you don't want that
i think you're in the clear to write what you need. it sounds like your comfort level will keep it from going to a place that would need to stay off grs, and you can always spoiler if it's getting too intense
i think absolutely go for it. i trust you to handle it tactfully. i think everyone in the group can handle tough topics and even if not, making sure the trigger warning is there will ensure that anyone who is uncomfortable with reading that doesn't have to.
ohhhhh i've only ever thought about that for voxthain! voxthain has autonomous carriages in a very steampunk way, but i think asterath should have vehicles too so yeah i would think more of a car vibe, but still powered by magic and not as tech as real world cars
alright, with my former noble character, if his father and grandmother had been involved in white collar crimes, as well as blackmail, would that work to have gotten them stripped of their nobility? and, would they also have a prison sentence, or just lose the title?
oh, and, just in case, with the like campaign posters, is there a color scheme we should stick to? like city colors or whatever
if the militia caught them in a crime, yes its very likely that they would have been stripped of their nobility. the people directly involved in the crime could have had a prison sentence if they weren't close with anyone who could get them out of it. any children or family members that weren't super involved in the crimes would have been let go with just losing the title
any colors you want! i think it could be very cool if you all come up with colors that correspond to your specific candidate and campaign. the city itself is the purple and red or more generically neons that were all over the group there for a hot minute. for your character, it might be nice to include some green for the snakes
we will likely open up voting October 4 or 5 unless people really need more time to prep, and voting will stay open for like a week to give everyone a chance to get their votes in
if anyone feels like they need more time on any of the election stuff, please let me know!! all of the timing was incredibly arbitrary and can be changed
well, i just have to figure it all out lol. i want to do stuff, but don't know how good i'll be at it lmao
it's all just for silly goofy fun, so have a good time with it and do whatever calls to you. if that's writing out a smear campaign against everyone else, if that's a poster or a series of posters or a video or literally whatever you want, gorgeous. you could even take a canva template and just change it up a little bit. there is no good at or bad at here, it's all just good fun amongst friends
I read through the information about the election, but I just want clarify something real quick! So I know everything should be up by Saturday, but is that also when the interviews and voting are? I'll be in town that day, but I don't know how long I'll be gone for, so I don't know I if would enough time for the interview and having my characters vote. I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding anything :)

of course I'm sure it would prob be different for investigators
