John Gibson | 13 comments I am trying to find the title of a SciFi book I read in childhood, and don’t know the author. Here are some the details I remember:

- I think the novel was published in the 60’s or 70’s.
- An enormous alien spaceship comes to Earth and captures part of New York City.
- The city is placed within the spaceship underneath a large dome.
- The dome is on a large plain with other alien cities, each underneath its own dome.
- Some humans escape our dome and explore the other domes and eventually the controls of the spaceship.
- It turns out the aliens were trying to save the humans from extinction by saving some of them from another alien that was coming later that would destroy the Earth.
- One of the domes had a single enormous building that only had dead creatures. It turned out that only creatures of one gender would live in one building, and the other gender would live in a second building—the aliens only took one building!

Anyhoo I hope somebody recognizes the book from this description and let’s me know the title and author.

John Gibson | 13 comments Wow! It was published in 1993, so not as long ago as I thought. And it is available as an audio book--bought it!

John Gibson | 13 comments The first time I read it I found it at my public library. I think it might be "Hard" SciFi, but I am not certain.

Walter | 35 comments I just found Manhattan Transfer on Audible! If I can't find it in my library, at least I can listen to the story there. Really looking forward to it!
