Dan in AZ | 2960 comments Having recently moved from Scottsdale to San Diego, I received my new library card. Lots of differences between libraries. Being used to a limited number of books immediately available, I ordered many books on my list only to find they were all available. So I received 10 books in the first pick-up, four of which were 400 pages or more. The good thing is that checkouts are 30 days with automatic renewals if there are no holds on the book. No fines either. There are other features I haven’t checked out yet, but initial impressions are all favorable.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments Sounds like a nice change. We have the auto renewal here, as well as regional library collaboration. I sometimes have to wait, but not for long.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Dan, sounds like a terrific library system. Hope you find San Diego to be very nice.
We also no longer have fines for overdue books at my library. We do 21-day borrowing segments, no auto renewal, a maximum of three renewals if no holds. We can have a max of ten physical books on hold and ten digital. I struggle with only ten digital hold possible.
Aren't libraries grand to give us the opportunity to borrow books to read and enjoy.

Dustin Fowler (chicubsbookworm) | 8 comments we have a state app we can use for the (main) library in our states capitol and for all the public library's. My small town has its own private library and isn't a public library so I have another card for it. Our state an public libraries gives a limit on how any books an its up to 10 at a time an gives us only 2 weeks. after the due date we can recheck out the books as long as there isn't a hold on said copy. Most our books have at least 5 copies except for maybe new releases.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Dustin, interesting your libraries have a ten checkout limit. I think ours might be twenty-five. Its definitely not ten. I exceed that frequently.
