Linda C (libladynylindac) | 1793 comments Frances Wynn, Countess of Harleigh, is beginning arrangements for her sister’s wedding, four months off, when Lily comes to her to say she is pregnant, and the wedding needs to be an elopement. To save Lily’s reputation and avoid their American mother’s wrath they decide on an early wedding. Widowed Frances is searching for a venue when her secret fiance, George, offers his brother’s home estate which he is overseeing while his brother is traveling. The characters all move to the estate, a small number of guests arrive, and a country house-party ensues incorporating wedding events, in-law problems, a shooting party and then a series of “accidents” that get increasingly serious. Who is the intended victim and why? Frances and George are off on their third investigation. The house-party has all the typical shenanigans of the trope and the mystery is good. I enjoyed this latest installment of the series.
