My mother bought this book for me ( Don’t even ask how she knows about it bc IDEK) and I’m hearing mixed opinions on it

I think I gave Light's Out around 3.5 stars. The author did a good job matching the MC's backgrounds to the Dark Romance theme, but I felt like it had a lot of potential to be...more. The plot is supposed to be a mystery game of finding out the MMC identity, but the FMC figures it out just before halfway point in the book. Which was a little weird since that was the selling point of the book.
The real plot developed midway through & originated mostly from side characters which the main characters stepped in and took over which was kinda flimsy to me because the author used side characters to create a plotline for the main characters.
Lastly, I just felt like the MMC wasn't depraved & unhinged enough for me. Josh was kinda silly and light-hearted whereas i like my MMC hardcore, no-nonsense, raw masculinity. Ally (the FMC) was cool though.
Overall, I'd say give it a read and see what you think.

I enjoyed Lights Out as it was both funny and sexy. The plot twist that occurs halfway through seemed slightly forced but o remained invested. The books did pursue kinks that were new to me which I found interesting. And agreed that the MMC isn’t super dark but he was very likeable.
