[BWF] The Architect’s Apprentice by Elif Shafak – 3 Stars

Set during the Ottoman Empire, this novel tells the story of architect Mimar Sinan who built some of the most beautiful buildings at the time and his apprentice, Jahan. I was really interested in reading a novel set during this place and time period in history, but I felt that sometimes, the detailed descriptions overwhelmed the story. I really liked the characters, but there were times when I was not fully engaged with the story, and I really had to keep pushing myself to continue to pick the book up again as it seemed to get a bit bogged down in the middle.
