Teri (teria) | 1554 comments I think it would be a tie between The Life Impossible by Matt Haig (not for challenge) and Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty (PS #34 at least 3 POVs).

I'm obviously not good at picking one book.

message 8: by Michele (new)

Michele Olson | 116 comments It wasn't for a challenge, but I really liked Written in Red by Anne Bishop. I think I'll use the sequel, Murder of Crows, for the magical creature that's not a dragon prompt next year.

Jackie | 734 comments While of course it's possible I'll read something amazing in the next two weeks, I think my bests are probably locked in.

Best Fiction: James

Best Nonfiction: The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder

Best Graphic Novel: Ballad for Sophie

Ron | 2708 comments I did a monthly tracker this year and ultimately what came out on top was:

Music and Mind Harnessing the Arts for Health and Wellness by Renée Fleming
Music and Mind: Harnessing the Arts for Health and Wellness

This book was incredible! It had everything. My enjoyment of psychology and my love of music. It was so fascinating to see how the two intertwine with each other. I'll certainly be getting this when it's released in paperback (unknown at the moment).

I really enjoyed (not the right word) this book. It was well-written.

Lilith (lilithp) | 1073 comments Hands down! House of Leaves

Ron | 2708 comments My favorite book for January ended up being a fiction book which I found surprising but I loved it:

Star Wars The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire by Chris Kempshall
Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire

It was essentially reading a history book set in the Star Wars universe which was awesome!

Marketa | 3 comments My January fave would be a short story Five Ripe Pears! Despite its simpleness, it portraits the child innocence prefectly and makes you feel sympathy and nostalgia in a way. I also really really recommend Saroyan´s other book Tracy's Tiger. Love the symbolism in his works and the comfort it brings me while reading them.

Britany | 1694 comments My Favorite for January was The God of the Woods by Liz Moore -- 5 stars!

message 17: by Carla (new)

Carla M (iamkarlamata) | 10 comments My favourite January book was “The Great Gatsby” for “a classic I hadn’t read” 🤩.

message 18: by Ron (new)

Ron | 2708 comments Here are my favorites so far both in fiction and nonfiction. Didn't read any fiction books in February.

January Nonfiction:

Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage - This book was incredible! Hard to believe it was published in 1959.

*****

January Fiction:

Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire - Loved this one!

*****

February Nonfiction:

Original Sins: The (Mis)education of Black and Native Children and the Construction of American Racism - Difficult topic but a must read.
