I reread "Lolita" by Nabokov. I had read it young and quickly, and then saw both movies. What a disappointment. The picaresque demeanor of the girl (first movie) is practically non-existent in the book. The irony at times feels "flat." It makes a good job of putting us inside the mind of a pervert - or at least disturbed mature man - but that in itself is not enough not make it into the great work it is supposed to be.

The Cruel Prince series - Hated the first book and had to drop the second. Lightlark series - It's comically bad to me.

A Court of Thorns and Roses. I just don't get the whole Stockholm Syndrome schtick and the need for love triangles. And the protagonist always thinking of herself as lesser than... I mean you kept your family alive for years girl... I think thats way more powerful and strong than a fae dude who does... whatever it is that Tamale does with his time.
The midnight library, omg everyone was raving about it and I was so BORED but I physically cannot DNF so had to thug it out
ACOMAF. I really loved ACOTAR and I absolutely like some of ACOWAR so far (I'm about 30% through... I adore Nesta tbh), but I'm not a big fan of the male romantic lead so ACOMAF was a bore for me. This is SUCH an unpopular opinion, but it's how I feel!
@Blue light - ohh.. both the series are in my tbr! quite hesitant to give it a try yet since it's super hyped
@Kayla brudnicki - Is the song of Achilles really overhyped? bc I was thinking of reading it this year
Red Queen. It was decent but I wanted to love it. And Mare just made me mad most the time🤦🏾♀️ and The Grandest Game. It was just ok, but I expected more…had some good scenes tho
Death's Obsession by Avina St. Graves. It's the first book I read after years bc I saw a TikTok about it, but it did nothing for me :'((
okay unpopular opinion but powerless and reckless by lauren roberts. I really enjoyed the characters and they were actually amazing but the entire plot felt plagiarized from red queen, hunger games, and harry potter (yes, i know she said she took inspo) also i felt like 50% of the book was AI written, the relationship between the two main characters was actually so confusing like one second they're about to kiss and the next they're holding knives to each other's throat (in the same chapter too) im sorry 😭😭
