Overhyped book that let you down?
The last book in the once upon a broken heart series
The Ritual by Shantel Tessier. I was so excited to read it i literally bought the whole triology before starting it. Then i got halfway through and realize the MMC was toxic and only liked the FMC for ego boost purposes and not because of who she is as an individual. Smut is different between two characters who actually pin for each other than just satisfying lust. I couldn't finish it. The whole trilogy is just sitting there glaring at me as i slowly pick at the my other TBR books lol.
Credence, The never King, Pucking around, Silent Vows they are unnecessary overhyped books.
@Dark romance I agree! I feel corrupt by Penelope is also overhyped! I dnf'ed it since that book bored me to death! I still don't understand the hype for that one.
@Shan I loved the ritual maybe coz I knew what I was getting myself into. it's totally fine if it wasn't for you. I dnf'ed the second book "the sinner" from that series, it honestly was all smut and no plot. I'm yet to read the rest of the series though. ALSO I've heard the third book "the sacrifice" from that series is actually good and has a great plot with the marriage of convenience trope and that it's much better than the rest of the series!! Maybe u might want to give the third book a try?

@SObooks I'm with you on that one! The cruel prince indeed was so overhyped! I had to read it since I own the physical copy.
@Gayathri I loved haunting Adeline! But wait butcher and blackbird? It wasn't nice? It's on my tbr and I've been thinking of giving that one a shot for a long time.

@Sobooks Haha I can relate! I honestly couldn't continue the series, i dnf'ed the second book half way through. I don't think I'll be resuming it any soon if at all I do.
@Kego I haven't read the icebreaker but my friends said the same thing and were highly disappointed with that read and how unnecessarily hyped it is!

Agggtm was really good in my opinion I mean I wouldn't have ever guessed the twists tbh
@Sheereen I'm glad u loved agggtm!❤️ The writing of was excellent, no doubt but the plot twists were the one I saw them coming when I wasn't even halfway through the book. (I won't state the reasons here since it might be spoiler) I still kept reading for the twist since I was sure i had to be wrong, it can't be that direct. But turns out I was right and there was no twist I was waiting so desperately for :(But I'm glad u enjoyed it!🫶🏻

shatter me. I would hope it gets better because this one really didn't do anything for me. it was just so underwhelming agggtm. it just didn't give enough. I really wanted to adore it but it was just another ok book
a court of thorns and roses. I read the second one and it was a little better but 600 pages is so unnecessary
Kingdom of the Wicked (absolutely the worst world and plot build ever, annoying MC) , When the Moon Hatched ( boring, simple minded main character) , One for My Enemy ( DNF it at half) and Powerless ( hated the way it was so much ripped off from the Red Queen)
divine rivals, the cruel prince, ouabh, off campus series, if he had been with me, just for the summer, the spanish love deception, bttm, binding 13, funny story, the right move, fourth wing, the inheritance games, all rhodes lead here

@sheeren Agggtm wasn't bad but it was made out to be the best book when it really wasn't. Maybe that's why it was a let down for others! :)

The Ritual - Not my cup of tea at all. I will honestly bash this series any chance I get lol.
Crescent City - Couldn't get into it, maybe a little too YA for me idk.
Fall of Ruin and Wrath - I usually am a sucker for Jennifer Armentrout's books however the writing was too YA for me for sure

Yes I DNF The Ritual. I couldn't stand how egotistical Ryat was. His ego was bigger than his lust for FMC. There was no love, respect/value or genuine affection in this book.
@LeyalnTheLibrary I'm so with u on that one. Archer's voice was such a let down for a book that's insanely hyped. There honestly was no plot but merely trauma bonding in the name of plot.
Does It Hurt? I just read it and although I loooove the storyline, I could not care for the couple.
