Recently we have seen a number of completed tasks posts not including a small description of what the task is requiring. Details of the task requirements in your post is actually part of the posting requirements, we're going to get strict on this from Winter 2024 onwards and reject any that fail to include it.

We have been letting this slide a bit but we do need to get strict with it. With the amount of members we have now, the rate of posting completed tasks, and the amount of task, this makes an already time consuming task longer and more difficult.

Acceptable:

Task # 25.8 - Shelby's Task: Are You Ready For Some Football???
Option 1: This whole task is really about my favorite team so, read a book by a single author where the author’s initials (you may ignore middle initials) appear in SEATTLE SEAHAWKS.
The Nurse's Secret by Amanda Skenandore
AS in SEATTLE
Option 3. Read a book first published in 2024.
The Astrology House: A Novel by Carinn Jade pub in 2024

example-1 has all needed info.

example 2 is missing what the option details are.

Hope this helps
Disclaimer: the above example was posted correctly, I changed the second example to show what we have been seeing.

Robin P | 1610 comments I sometimes shorten the task description, so, for instance, instead of copying the whole sentence of description, for the example above I would say,

Option 1: Author initials in SEATTLE SEAHAWKS or
Option 1: Author 1st & last initials in SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

I assume that is ok as long as it is really clear what the task requirement is.

As a participant, I like the descriptions because when I look at what people post , sometimes it reveals to me a book that I didn't realize would work/ But if they didn't describe the task, I can't easily do that.

Yup, shortened is absolutely fine!

It helps us because we cant possibly remember what every task asks for. :)

Angela | 919 comments Can I get some clarification on this rule?
I have noticed in some postings that not everyone is including a link to the MMPB or PB when using a audiobook or kindle/ebook version of a book.
I was under the assumption that if we read a book via kindle/ebook we needed to follow these rules:
"If there are multiple editions in a format:
From the editions page (click all editions on the main book page)
Set the Format, beginning with Mass Market Paperback
Set the Sort By as "num ratings"
Use the top edition result to determine the page number for ebooks and audiobooks
If there are no editions in MMPB, reset with Paperback and the same sort (num ratings). If there are no paperback editions, reset with Hardcover and the same sort (num ratings). If there are no print editions the ebook or audiobook may not be used for a task requiring a page number"

Is this only if a task is requiring a page number? If so, this would save me a ton of work I do not need to be including in my posts.

That's correct, strictly speaking it's just for determining page count where ebooks/audiobooks are concerned.

That said, when we're checking task claims, it is helpful for the reviewing mod to have a link to the relevant print edition to confirm that it is over the SRC default minimum of 100 pages. it's one of those "not required, but we really appreciate it if you do!" things.
