Question has oft been asked around the 'net

Meself: I'm thinking that no, there was not. Certain cities were just too sleepy to warrant a film.

Bruce Every state, probably, but maybe not city.

Every country?

Ha!

Gotta concur wit ya der, pod nuh

But I think it's a modern trend that all 'middling' US cities sooner or later receive a motion picture to glamorize them.

Seattle gets 'Sleepless', Philadelphia gets that Tom Hanks flick, Miami gets one. Even Cedar Rapids gets a flick. It's a kind of quid pro quo to increase tourism.

In New York, Katz's delicatessen is now a massive landmark.

Somewhere, somehow, bigwigs are making these backroom arrangements.

Same reason that eternally loser-ish sports franchises are finally rewarded with a championship; totally fixed.

The shame of losing and the indignity of obscurity is not allowed in today's USA. Bad for business.

Interesting. I myself was surprised to learn WV was 'carved out' during the run-up to the Civil War. Or shortly thereafter.

Whatever the exact date, lots of birth pangs when that state was born'd.

Might be that one of my fave flicks --"Lolly Madonna XXX" --was set there.

Bruce Even my tiny (not beloved) home state, Connecticut, had movies in the Golden Age. Even one called Christmas in Connecticut. Of course, it’s right next to NY, so for ones that are partly set in CT, it’s almost always for that reason.
