- history: arianna grew up in a very poor, unpleasant and ‘gray’ lifestyle. long ago, her mother was with her father outside, in the garden, and when they were coming back to the house, saw a tiny child on their doorstep. many years had passed since then but arianna grew to wonder why she didn’t look like her parents. her mother had long brown, curly hair while she, on the other hand, has black, abnormally curly hair. on her 5th birthday is when she realized she was adopted, and a gift to them.

her family tried their best to support her dreams, as she was an only child. to be honest, arianna just wanted to spend time with her family rather than always be bossed around by them, but then again, she knew they were only doing that for her own good. once, on her 18th birthday, she was outside running some errands. it was raining heavily that day and she decided to go home when a group of people ran towards her. a girl, dressed in all dark pink, ran to her, pushed a briefcase into her arms and skedaddled away. then, the guys that were chasing her came closer and to her shock, they arrested her for stealing a very precious item. but then and there, arianna quickly reached under the hard briefcase and took an item out. she stuffed that item into her left pocket. that was the day that entirely changed her life.

read more? click here → (view spoiler)[in her jail cell, arianna took the item out (it sort of looked like a heart crossed with a pearl?). it was shining and glowing like crazy. then a sweet voice came out of it and said to her, ‘come to the lake’ and then it suddenly stopped lighting up. that night, she checked around and made sure everyone was asleep. she checked the camera and they were all somehow turned off (the red light stopped blinking). arianna saw a guard outside her cell with the keys dangling out his pocket which were, by the way, almost about to fall. she stuck her hand through one of the bars in her cell and grabbed the keys. ari successfully unlocked it from the inside and sped to the lake that the voice was talking about.

in that lake, there was a huge pink pearl and lots of other pink things. in the middle it said, ‘welcome back arianna ~love, aphrodite, your mother.’ after that is when she realized she was aphrodite’s daughter. from then on, she’s been visiting the lake every night and saw new unique messages from her mother. once, however, there was a pink transportation vehicle in the water to which she couldn’t quite make out what it was. she got on it and in a matter of seconds, reached a beautiful place full of people just like her called ‘camp half-blood.’ (hide spoiler)]

ACT 1 - VANTAA, FINLAND

“Take a step closer, and I’ll shoot.” My voice is colder than usual, the gun trembling in my hand. I had managed to snag the gun off the man, but who’s to say if I shot, I would make it? I was only twelve. I was walking home from school, since it wasn’t necessarily a long walk, and this man had decided to corner me in one of the alleyways. I could hear a scoff leave his lips, and I was quickly pulled back to reality. My eyes dart to look up at the man, my eyes wide with fear. Why hide it?

“Do you even know how to work that thing? C’mon, I wasn’t gon’ hurt you or anything.” He takes a step forward, holding his hand out for the gun. I furrow my brows. Did this guy really think I was just going to give him his gun back? If anything, I was going to slide between his legs and run off to the police with it. How’d he even get a hold of one of these things without a permit? Probably bought it off of somebody. Talk about sick freaks.

I cock the gun, my trembling stopping as I rain the gun to his head. “Just cock it and pull the trigger. It’s not like I’m stupid, everybody has watched movies with guns by my age.”

“You’re smart for a kid, now hand over the gun before things get messy,” As if on cue, I hear footsteps behind me. I whip my head back, seeing one man blocking the exit to the other end of the alleyway. Did he seriously need backup for a twelve year old?

Next thing I knew, I was pulling the trigger and running. I didn’t check if I missed, the second the gunshot and the guy in front of me stumbled enough for me to run, I ran. All I could do was run, it’s the only thing that's keeping me alive. I was still holding the gun, since I wasn’t sure how many bullets it had. What if I dropped it, they picked it up, and shot me while I was running? I’m not taking that chance. I could hear the blood rushing in my ears, my heart pounding my chest, my head screaming. What if I just killed a man? What if he died?

Before I could reach my house, I’m to the side by someone’s hand. I was right next to my house, I couldn’t get killed right here. I quickly lift the gun to who pulled me, but they just take it from my hands and toss it to the side. I met their eyes, a little surprised to see a woman. She had brown hair styled it one of those braid bun things. Braided chignon, I think? We stare in silence for a second, not saying a word to one another. She slowly crouches down to get on level with me, reaching out and ruffling my hair.

brown haired, brown eyed, and a fair but tanned complexion, helm is plain looking boy. he stands at 5'7", though he's still growing, and has a decent amount of muscle. his most notable features consist of three distinct things, each less subtle than the last: a circular birthmark just below his adam's apple, the number four and three roses tattooed on his left hand with one up his wrist, and a prosthetic on his right arm from the bicep down. he often keeps his hair short, but when it is not, his curls are more visible. his usual attire consists of a sporty-casual aesthetic─baggy jeans or sweats, hoodies, tees, sneakers, the occasional flannel button-up.

above all things, helm is kind. above his flaws and his less desirable features, helm values warmth, care, altruism. ever since he was little, he'd always been a sympathetic boy. he cared about the little things, the misfortune of others, whether he knew them or not. even as he grew, it was clear helm strived to be compassionate, pleasant, friendly. one can assume these values came from his upbringing, and if one were to assume such, they'd be right. helm was raised humble. he was modest, despite the fact that he'd never had much, or perhaps for that very reason. it was drilled into him, humility, and he's never been the kind to show arrogance or much pride.

growing up as he did, with near overbearing parents and persistent threat, it was no wonder that helm found himself a cautious person, protective of those closest to him as well as himself. he was always careful as a kid, avoiding potential dangers that he'd deemed worthy of avoidance. and he was perceptive enough to know what was true danger or not, but it wasn't uncommon for his wariness to turn into paranoia and his discernment to turn into insecurity. still, he's watchful, and that can be as good as it is bad.

despite being humble, kind, helm is a very opinionated boy. he's not beyond expressing any opposing ideologies, things that challenge the norm. in fact, helm is rather argumentative. he can be particularly stubborn when it comes to things he strongly believes, even going as far as being distinctly defiant. his outlook on life has been grim since he learned of his blood, and because of his pessimism, he's not shy of being radical in any activism he decides to participate in.


─────backstory
helm was born and raised in britain with a father who knew far too little about the woman that was helm's mother and a mother─well, adoptive mother─who knew far too much with not enough context. helm's mother, belle, was always very protective of her children, even more so when she found that helm was not like her other children. the thing with james was that he hadn't had the opportunity to learn about the woman he'd had helm with. it was during a break in his and belle's marriage and when helm showed up after the break had ended, they both took him in.

he was raised the same as his older sisters, leigh and calliope, treated with the same care and the same expectations. it wasn't until belle started noticing differences that things changed.

helm was only eleven when they moved away from britain. he wasn't aware of why that was─monsters. belle had found on preying on him, so close that she couldn't stand it, so they left, fled in hopes that somewhere else would be safer. so they found themselves in rhode island.

when it turned out that the monsters were there, too, belle went searching for answers. she saw them, too, she had the sight, she needed to protect her son.

when helm turned twelve, a satyr, dimi, came. dimi explained everything to belle and suddenly everything made sense. she didn't quite believe it when she was told, but over the course of a week, she slowly started to realize it was the truth. she explained everything to james, as the man had trusted her through the entire thing, and the couple allowed for dimi to take helm.

at age fifteen, helm was sent on his first quest. the details of the exhibition are rather hazy, as one of the requirements had been a willing─not very─surrender of his memories. whomever he'd come in contact with during his quest had been dear to him, he knows that much. what he doesn't know is what happened, why he gave up his memory of the quest. he'd completed it, been rewarded, had the scars and the pride, but any knowledge of what happened was lost. and yet, whenever he thought of it, tried to remember, he feels a pang of loss, need, yearning, like he'd forgotten half of himself.

with short black hair and light, but golden, brown skin, and hazel eyes, zain has always been exceptionally pretty, if unlike his father's family. zain stands at 5'5", a height a bit below average. he has a slim figure, with subtle curves and a soft build. what makes him easily recognizable is his tattoos, little things that range from random to utter art, zain's littered in ink. he often sports well-groomed facial hair, a clean stubble over his chin and jaw. opposite from what he wore as a child, zain's more commonly found in things that might fit a more alternative style, something reminiscent of a grunge aesthetic─baggy, faded, ripped jeans, leather jackets, graphic tees, disheveled appearance, yet effortlessly cool.

much of zain's personality can be attributed to his upbringing after his disownment. because of this, zain grew to be a very resourceful person. he's quick, skilled, easily the more adept of the population. zain often jokes it's one of the better parts of his pedigree, the intelligence, the cleverness. he's witty and he's confident, charming at all times. it's almost admirable, how he uses his smarts, his skill. and he does use them. growing up, zain developed a high pattern recognition, making him very intuitive, almost always able to predict outcomes if they have logical endings.

raised by bark, zain was always surrounded by more gruff traits, traits he picked up on. bark was a straight-forward man, something that rubbed off on zain, making the boy blunt. he doesn't sugar-coat, prefers straight honesty. it's easy for this to be a bit much, though, as zain lacks the care to be sensitive. he's more composed, calm, not often showing things he views as weak, like emotions and feelings, though he doesn't deny he feels them, he just prefers not to make them known. his lack of expression makes it harder for him to form connections, though that's never been much of an issue to him. he prefers being on his own and is often less committed to friends or potential partners, views them as an extra weight he doesn't need. he has his parents to thank for that rather than bark.

much like bark, zain can be gruff, almost. he's more abrasive, harsh, than he is rough. this doesn't come from just bark, though, more of a development of his environment at home. in spite of his nobility, zain was always judgemental towards those of higher status. he did enjoy his own privilege, though he's always been a bit hypocritical. he's not respectful, he's rude, loud, impudent. bark had often described zain as brazen, shameless in his disliking of what he dislikes. among that, zain is rather vain. this is lesser, really, but it's still there, though he'll claim it's deserved when he looks like he does.


─────backstory
much of zain's early childhood was spent under the care of mnemosyne. from when he was born to the age of nine, he was raised by his mother─raised being used loosely. as caring as mnemosyne tried to be, she wasn't a very attentive mother, that much zain remembers. he doesn't remember much else from his time with her, and he supposes that makes sense. he does remember willingly giving up he memory of the time, to protect her, in a sense.

zain was placed with his father after leaving mnemosyne, a cruel man who couldn't have cared any less about his only child. he was sent off to a boarding school nearly the moment he got there, an all boy's school, because despite being born a girl, zain had transitioned under his mother's care, as much as a young child can, anyway.

as this boarding school was highly religious, zain was made to worship a god he didn't entirely believe he should have been worshiping. in times where the others talked of jesus and prayed, zain directed his worship to his mother, mnemosyne. of course this was a secret, as his peers and teachers would condemn the practice if they knew, but zain grew to be very devoted, gaining his mother's favor and protection.

at age thirteen, there was an attack on the school, a monster. zain had a bad feeling about it, though he escaped. he'd gone years without ever being detected, not even a sliver, and yet suddenly there was an attack? that night, when he prayed to his mother, zain heard nothing. he determined then that she was in danger and the moment the opportunity arose, zain left the academy.

he went off on a mission to find her, help her, because there must've been something wrong if she was unable to speak to him, unable to protect him.

the quest was long and deadly. he didn't have the physical training to fight off monsters so he relied heavily on the powers bestowed upon him by his mother. when he was young, she'd often teach him about his abilities, so he was more advanced than most of his half-blood peers, especially at his age. at least when it came to control of them, strength came from his mother, who was currently unable to provide him.

zain would say he hardly survived it, though he can't really remember past when he assumes he actually got to her. he doesn't remember meeting her again, doesn't remember what it had been that caused her trouble, all he remembers is doing it again, giving up his memory of part of the quest.

when he got back, his father was livid, told him off for chasing what was unimaginable. zain was kept home from then on, a private tutor hired to teach him the remainder of his schooling until the day he was disowned. zain was caught practicing his worship and was promptly kicked out at the age of fourteen.

zain was found by a gruff man, someone he grew to consider as his father, more than he ever had his birth-father. the man was named bark, and while he didn't understand zain, or anything that zain lived for, he still took him in, cared for him. zain only had two years with him before he'd died.

he'd spent a year wandering about, his mother's protection firm and comforting, when he met a satyr named kissos. she hadn't been searching for him, but the child she was tasked to retrieve had not made it, and zain comforted her. when she found out that zain was a half-blood, she urged him to go with her to the camp. with nothing to suggest he shouldn't, zain agreed.

History: After Hades had had so many affairs, Persephone had decided to have a few herself. One in particular was with a mortal flower shop keeper named- Terry, who already had a wife...ANYWAY- Every spring/Summer Persephone would visit this lovely shop keeper and...iykyk. during the winter Persephone found herself bearing a child. After Hades found out he was furious (as one should be, but he started it-) She fed the child one pomegranate seed so at least one month a year..whichever month and whatever year Persephone wanted..She could go see her. Hades cursed the child, however, if she ever steps foot in the underworld..death.

At the age of six she could obviously tell she was abnormal, she grew plants with just touching soil or walking. But at the time she turned 8 she...grew an ivy plant around her apartment. Refusing to give her daughter to camp Half-blood, He moved her to..well Greece..the ENTIRE family moved to Greece, for about a couple more years they moved back to America and Terry finally decided to send the child away- (She kept trying to set mean girls hair on fire-)
