[BWF] Euphoria by Lily King – 3 Stars

I added this book to my TBR earlier this year when I saw it on a list of best historical fiction published in the last 10 years, but didn’t really know anything about it. Set in 1933, it follows three young anthropologists as they live and study in the jungle in New Guinea. They soon find themselves in a love triangle, as Fen and Nell’s marriage is not strong, and Nell and Andrew are clearly attracted to each other. Whilst all three soon begin to produce their best work, their relationships soon become filled with love and jealousy. I thought that the story was very interesting, and it did lead me to read about Margaret Mead, who this book is clearly based on. I felt that the ending was both unsettling and rushed, and the book didn’t end in the way I expected it to.
