Just finished #49 - The Diversion ... Agree with all of you. This has been a long time coming and (view spoiler)[ I do feel Jake got the short end of the stick...

I absolutely loved Tobias' mom! I hope they get to know each other and develop a good relationship!

Rachel's mother and sisters are a hoot! Loved that they thought Ax is Pokemon and they are going to train him, hahaha! Adorable! And the whole Constitution thing is cute too:)

I wonder if we are going to lose Jake and his family by the end of the series... At this point it seems really plausible to me... (hide spoiler)]

Nirkadze, I don't know why, but I just feel like she killed him at the end, despite feeling horrible about it... Because he was begging her not to send him back... What do the rest of you think? I wish for both of their sake, that she let him live... That whole last scene really upset me for some reason....

1) You can narrow it down to Jake or Rachel... Marco was added to the team because of his mom, Tobias & Ax because of Elfangor, Cassie because of her ability to stabilize the timeline... Jake & Rachel were the less necessary wildcards that brought the other 3-4 together in the construction site in book 1, basically... also, they make the most sense as the slowly becoming reckless leader and always reckless Rachel...

2) The implication is yes, she killed him... I think it's referenced in later books, obliquely... (hide spoiler)]

#50 The Ultimate ... Things are really getting serious, aren't they? (view spoiler)[ No! Tom has the Morphing Cube! Darn it!

I am very glad, as Nirkadze said, that they have leaned even more into the realistic issues that come with group interdynamics ... Things are escalating, while also threatening to fall apart from within...

I really liked that they involved the disabled kids! Love how they went about it and don't understand why Cassie's dad has such moral objections to it... It is the kid's choice and they get to have some meaningful experiences! I don't get the objections...

In the beginning of the book, when the kids were discussing if any of their parents should become Animorphs, we got another discrepancy when Toby was like, no, not my mom, she has been through enough... Really confused me, since she already has the Morphing powers! Then just several paragraphs down they are talking about how it fixed her blindness but not her amnesia... Very inconsistent... I guess what they meant to say was not to get her involved in the actual fighting???

This was more fun and less angst, which I personally appreciated, because these were getting heavy...

I am glad we are involving everyone now, finally! Also, as you guys said, I was getting the King Kong vibes with Marko and the Governor as well 🙂

Continuity is definitely a sticky point with this series and so many ghostwriters... the wiki is full of examples of flubs...

I really like the way you describe (view spoiler)[the supposed dilemma about involving the new kids--it's their choice and that's what matters.

I can see why something like morphing would fix the blindness but not amnesia--the blindness is connected to her genetic makeup, but while it could heal the part of her brain damaged by the crash, it can't repair the memories lost--it's like damaged harddrive... it can repair the hardware, but it doesn't return the wiped software...
