Ion | 75 comments [Moved] Hello,

I own the copy of this book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

I have scanned the front cover. It can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/photo/user/...

Please note that the existing cover is incorrect, as Deering is not mentioned as an author on this cover, but it is included in the one I have provided.

Could you please update it.

Thank you!

Martin | 36100 comments That is a different cover, author names are different.
If the one you want is not yet on Goodreads you can request a further edition at 'adding new books & editions'

Ion | 75 comments Martin, the cover is the same and the authors are the same. I am completely lost by your comment. This is exactly the same edition.

message 4: by Ion (new)

Ion | 75 comments Correction. The current cover is incorrect. If you look at the current edition https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4..., Deering is included as one of the authors, and he is also included in the cover version I provided.

The existing cover for this edition, refers to a different edition, but the cover I provide is actually the correct one!

Martin | 36100 comments It is equally possible that the same edition was issued with different covers, one including Deering's name and the other without.
If the one you want is not yet on Goodreads you can request a further edition at 'adding new books & editions'

Ion | 75 comments Martin, it is very unlikely that in 1913 the same edition will appear with different covers, so I am not sure on what you are basing your assumption. Have you got any evidence to support it?

I don't understand why a duplicate is required here as there are already two books already with the same publication year and the same publisher on Goodreads.

First there is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... which correctly includes the following authors: Paul Heyse, Wilhelm Bernhardt (Editor) and R.W. Deering (Revisions). The cover I submitted clearly has all the three authors, unlike the existing cover which excludes R.W. Deering. Also note that the description on this title matches to the edition that I own and for which I am correcting the cover.
- Please note that the original edition of Wilhelm Bernhardt's translation without R.W. Deering's revision was published in 1892. (This edition is missing on Goodreads, but I have no further info about it!)

Secondly, there is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
This edition's description does not match the edition I have, and even if all three authors are on the cover, the authors are incomplete in the main listing. It looks more that this edition should get the cover from the other edition with only Bernhardt's name, and the cover to the other edition should be done as per my original request.

Thank you!

Martin | 36100 comments I am not making any assumptions, just putting forward a possibility.
I do not need evidence to do that, but would need very strong evidence to change a cover.
As the book was published in 1913 it seems doubtful we will ever know.

I repeat again my suggestion from my earlier messages -
If the one you want is not yet on Goodreads you can request a further edition at 'adding new books & editions'

Ion | 75 comments Martin, instead of duplicating editions, would setting up an alternative cover be more suitable in this case?

message 9: by Martin (new)

Martin | 36100 comments The only way to add an alternative cover to Goodreads is to add a further edition.
