Task 12 - 52. Read 6 books with the same color cover, teams decide color.
Color selected -- BLACK

Book: The Accidental Summoning
Author: Addison Acres
Pages: 265 GR (Kindle first ed)
Finished: Nov 3
How it fits: Cover mostly black
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: This was cute. Drew accidentally summons a nice demon when trying to make Chicken soup from an old family recipe. Nothing too complicated about the plot, but drew and Zach were sweet and it was light and fun.

Color selected -- BLACK

Pages: 228 GR (Kindle first ed)
How it fits: Cover mostly black
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: This was my favourite of The Wrong Alpha series though some of the things going on were a bit weird. Allesandra is a massive pervert and does not care what anyone thinks about it.

King & Queen by Maz Maddox
Pages: 228 GR (Kindle first edition)
How it fits: Cover mostly black.
Finished Nov 4
Rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a hoot. Dinosaur shifters and drag queens, whats not to love! This is a crazy fun series.

I can start a second book…

Review: Love to see some representation for the pan, demi and asexuals. This story is very basic but that's not a bad thing and it's nice sometimes to just have boy meets boy, boy likes boy, HEA.

If It Drives by Aleksandr Voinov
Pages: 190 GR (kindle first edition)
How it fits: mostly black cover

Witt and Voinov, best writing team for hot and kinky! Market Garden series highly recommended just for the hotness alone. Red Tie gets his own story. I knew from If It Fornicates there was some hidden chemistry between Cal and James, and that chemistry explodes here!

Dance with the Devil I think 2016 is the 1st Kindle edition

There are portions of this book that I really want to rank higher.
But the majority of the book left my head spinning.

The cases bounced around. It took a long time before I got the hang of it.

I really loved Doug. I would have preferred more Doug. He really was the most interesting.
But I liked Chris too. I just felt more sparks with Doug and Zach.

Task 13 - 57. Read over 1000 pages in books that are MPG Romance.
Books selected for this task need to have Romance as a Main Page Genre - on the right side of the main book page under genres. Romance can be alone or combined as in Contemporary Romance. If Romance is likely to drop off the main page, i.e. low on the genre list, a screen shot might be advisable.

That’s a good one…sad, that the series is ending

Housewarming/reunion with Ellery’s college friends. Snow storm traps everyone and of course, there is a murder, and the killer is amongst them. It was great learning a bit about Ellery’s past. As always, a great read.

Book: Jon's Helter Skelter Cold Case

Review: Sob! It's over. Loved this conclusion to the series, and seeing Jon and Donovan work with all those other characters was such a treat.
Total page count so far: 296 + 206 = 502

Greed and Other Dangers
269pg GR
Author T.J. Nichols
How it fits: MM Romance listed second on MPG
Review: It's one of those series, where the first book, I liked, but wasn't hooked. The hook is in the process of being set on this one. I want more. I'm afraid if I read 1 more to soon, I'm gonna blow through the rest of the series quickly.
Total page count so far: 502+269=771

298 pages GR Kindle 1st
How it fits: MPG MM Romance

Review: One for fans of The Captive Prince trilogy, though I like this better. Great world building. Doesn't leave you on a cliff hanger but there was a mic drop that left me gagging for book 2. You have Father vs sons, brother vs brother, elves vs humans and slaves vs their overlords. One of my favourite books this year.
Total page count so far: 771+298 = 1069

I shall post we are ready, unless someone else already has.

Task 14 - 35. Read 6 books first published between 2011 and 2020.
Books selected for this task need to have been initially published between 1.1.2011 and 12.31.2020. If there is a date at the top of the editions page use it. Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the initial publication date in your completion posts.

5 stars,
re-read, I adore this series.
Nick was pretty promiscuous in the first several books. Later he settles down. It's nice going back to see the difference in Nick in the beginning and Nick towards the end of the series.
~~~~~~~~~
I finished this book, with the same reaction as I did the last. "IT'S ABOUT TIME NICK!"
I don't know what it is about Nick...but not only does Nick's sexscapades not give me a bad feeling, but I'm over here egging him on. YA NICK! DO IT! DO IT! Which is just weird for me. I think part of is, there is no "Love" involved with all these admirers. I hate when a character has everyone they meet fall instantly in love with them. Oh...Nick is catnip to gay men, but they don't fall in love, they just fall on his dick. Usually, these catnip characters have me yelling at them "You are not Brian Kinney"
But guess what...Nick IS Brian Kinney...well...not in personality, but he can pull it off like Brian Kinney.
It's what makes it work. I worry about Nick, but I don't want to change him.
I loved this entire book. Seeing Nick slowly come to realize what is going on with Harker, is gut wrenching. Seeing him realize his feelings, makes me happy. Seeing him fuck anything that moves....welll...Lots of feelings there too...none of them bad.
REread 4/26/17
Still feel the same...LOVE Nick. Finally I can read book 4 now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reread 2/2/18
Can I ever get enough Nick? NO.
I love returning to the beginning. Seeing Harker in a new light. Remembering Nick and his slutty days.
I need to savor this one, and let it sit on my mind for a little while before I start the next one.
Shit gets REAL, very soon.
My first review says it all...except, this book get better with a reread. Hindsight and all.

Task 14 - 35. Read 6 books first published between 2011 and 2020.

Book: Orion's Circle
Author: Victoria Sue
Pages: 178 GR (kindle first edition) -- I think this is the best one?!
How it fits: First published June 29, 2015
Rating: 3 stars
Review: I really like Victoria Sue's writing but I found this one to be brutal, mostly because of the amount of abuse taken by the omega wolf (so, more like hard to read than poorly written) but also because of the incorrect assumptions made by 600 year old wolves about their 18 year old Omega.

Oh, what tangled web they weave! Never lie to Emmet for he will unravel the web of lies. I really enjoyed this. A new author to me, whose writing just flows. As an introduction to a new series, I thought it was great! The chemistry is building between David and Em, looking forward to what their next case leads to and their relationship.

Oh Nick.
Another great addition to the series.
I'm setting myself up for heartache in the future reading these...but I just can't stop.
I adore Nick. I love that he is completely unapologetic about everything.
He's a man slut....but he owns it. He doesn't go out trying to bang half of Chicago, but they are lining up and begging him to.
He owns up to (view spoiler)
I liked Harker much better this book. Oh, I was rooting for him in all the other books, but I got a better feel for him this book.
I cringed when Nick (view spoiler)
I sounded like a kid yelling at my kindle, BUSTED when Harker found out Nick had spilled the beans.
Nick's no longer doubting his love for Harker. He even gets jealous.
I wanted to say he's little more aware of how some of his actions could get him in trouble....but mostly he only noticed that he has sex in public to often, and could be arrested.
Hindsight is 20/20...and keep hoping Nick will discover condoms....but I don't they have even started a safe sex campaign at this point, so it's not likely to happen for a while.
There is no way I can wait until next month to read the next one...I'll be lucky to wait until the end of the week.

Reread 3/6/19
GAH! I love Nick.
Better enjoy Nick's slutty ways while you can, they are about to start slowing down.
I feel like this is the end of a chapter, and things start to shift next book.
This is the final stages of the Old Nick, before he starts to evolve.

It's been a long time since I've reread this one. Idk why, but I love Harker more after this re-read.

I'm going to wait to choose my Game Night book until we get our next category here. Finally have an opportunity to read one book for both challenges!

Review On the downside, it was very easy to figure out who are villian was, but it didn't matter because I had a great time. I like how unlikable Detective Rowan is. He's got a temper, is judgemental, selfish and has a history of horrible taste in men, but I found it refreshing. He's balanced out with psychic Tennyson who doesn't seem to have any flaws. Love them together, love them individually but I hope Ten does develop a back bone and hold Rowan accountable for his behaviour as the series progresses.

Wow, this time we go to Turkey as Em goes undercover to find the truth of a models death. And we learn more of Em’s past as a model. As for David, he’s stuck at home holding down the PI fort. Still trying now to get rid of his ex. I love those cliffhanger teasers to read the next book. David is in big trouble now! Looking forward to the next book
