TART10 - Who needs Rum when there's Wine (1)
I will check your books later, about to head out. Here is your next task!
Task 24 - 72. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate.
As a team, select a teammate and then read 4 books initially published in the decade of their birth. For this task, the decade will be 0-9, for example 1990-1999. Use the initial publication date, if there is a date listed at the top of the editions page use that. Otherwise, I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the selected teammate and decade in your completion posts.
Worst task ever 😮💨 does everyone want to do 90s? If I need to read MF anyway I don't mind which decade we choose.
Oh, I might have found one for double duty. These don't have to be romance right?
Pronto
1st book the TV series Justified was based on.
One word, and from the 90s.

This challenge does not need to be romance, but does need to be fiction.
(I was just here to check your books and update your tracking. 😊)

The Awakening by L.J. SmithPages: 324 GR kindle 1st (2010)
Read: 28-Nov
How it fits: first published September 1, 1991
Rating: ⭐⭐
Review: This wasn't bad for a 90's teen romance, and it seems like maybe Stephanie Meyer was inspired by this book when writing Twilight, as there are a lot of similarities.
The main problem with this is the lack of detail. It is very insta-love and there are many questions like why is Stefan attending a US high school anyway? It did keep me engaged all the way through though.

There me when a vampire had a heartbeat. But the story was good. I enjoyed it. Someday I’ll have to read more. Surprised to find how many series I missed back in the day when this was right up my alley. I’ve recently been visiting some series that I missed back then.
PROBLEM
My computer will not come on at all.
Idk how to do links or anything from my phone
But I have completed my book

Don Strachey is a hard-boiled private detective in the era of the height of aids. You get the feel of a Sam Spade mystery. But there is never a dull moment with his wicked sarcasm and dry wit. It becomes full entertainment just waiting to see what remarks comes next. Yes, he can be a bastard at times, and I still wonder why Timmy still loves him. Total opposites, but it works.

Review: For such a long drawn out investigation, the book seemed to have an abrupt ending, but it was well done.
Just a reminder guys that this challenge finishes next Sunday, December 8th. If we keep up the way we are going, we will be given our last task on Saturday 7th, and I imagine the first team to finish that task will win.I think I will feel relieved at first, then really miss it. It's been so fun and I hope we can all play it together again next year.
I agree wholeheartedly. I don't think I could keep up this pace all the way to Christmas, life just gets too busy, but it has been so fun. I will check my calendar on the 7th and see about putting time aside.
Jessica wrote: "Mountain Kat, is it easier for you if the book link is the Kindle 1st edition?"It is, but mostly if there are very few editions. If there are more than 5 or 6 editions, I will be checking the editions page to confirm page count no matter what edition is linked. So, if there are only 5 or 6 editions and you link to the Kindle one, it does save me a step and it is appreciated.

(I haven't decided yet which way I will go.) Just FYI. 😉
Here is your next task!Task 25 - 113. The first person on your team alphabetically, selects a book or series and everyone reads that book or a book in that series.
The first person on your team alphabetically is DeeNeez. So DeeNeez selects a book or series and everyone reads the selected book or a book in the selected series. Please include the selected book/series in your completion posts.

Happy to go with whatever you choose Dee as long as it's on KU, but I wonder if it might be fun to all read the same book? Maybe one released in the past few months? We could also factor in the regular bingo call

Diane wrote: "Jessica wrote: "MountainKat wrote: "Jessica wrote: "Just a reminder guys that this challenge finishes next Sunday, December 8th. I don't know what the other team have been reading but there's a good chance it was short books since they were finishing so fast.
I feel like page count would be fairer than books read since the amount of books read would be dependent on the tasks we were given.
MountainKat wrote: "In this challenge, it isn't who finishes first but who reads the most - either page count or books. (I haven't decided yet which way I will go.) Just FYI. 😉 "This only applies to the last task. 📖📚

That's awesome 😆 I'm telling my husband he's a single parent next weekend
Good news.I have no idea what the problem was.
But I got off work early, so I could start making calls to fix my laptop.
But I opened it up, and it just came right on without an issue.
Battery was completely drained. But worked.
Weird. Last night I had it plugged in, and it shouldn't have had a low battery either, and wouldn't come on at all.
So I'm worried it will happen again, but I'm hoping it was a one off.
For the moment, I'm back in business. We'll see if it lasts.

Wow it's been a long time since I read this series. Happy to read the first one again but will search for a cozy mystery. Are we all playing regular bingo?

Unraveling the Threads of Fate by Alice Winters tagged 1 time as gay cozy mystery and on KU
Hidden Truth by Samuel York tagged 1 time gay cozy mystery and on KUThat's all I can find right now

Lisa’s bingo requirements it must be MPG. So I’m going with a series for our task

Sorry I didn't refresh to see that! Is is tagged cozy mystery by chance? Was planning to read the first one next week so that works!
edit - can see it's not MPG cozy mystery. If anyone finds anything on KU let me know!
I need SOS Hotel for the Great Seasonal Reading challenge which starts on Sunday, so I can't finish reading it until then or it won't count, but will definitely have the review in on time.
