The Bound Witch question

I just finished the third book in the series, my favorite of the 3, and though I am thoroughly satisfied with the ending, there is still a niggling question that keeps cropping up in my head... what happened to the inherited magic when all 3 parents of Rogan and Elon were executed? Did I miss something? Did it go to Leni or the boys?
